2003 Robot Rodeo

I'm proud to announce the date and venue have been finalized for the 2003 Robot Rodeo.

Where: University High School in Orlando, FL
When: Saturday, October 25th
Registration fee: $50

We have enough space to accomodate 24 teams. Details on how to register will be posted in this thread, so check back frequently.

We are currently working hard to make this one of the best off-season events around, but we need input! Please tell us what you want at the event, and we'll do our best to make it happen!

No FIRST event could happen without the effort of volunteers, and the Rodeo is no different. If you would like to help out, please let us know.

Contact us at robotrodeo2003@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Aww, a specially made email address. That's cute.

Really though, if I'm still around here by then, I'll help. I don't want to do any WORK or anything, but I'll help.

got net?

Need Internet connection w/ static routable IP. This is the easiest way to webcast the event. Need a high quality camera and a video switcher/mixer.

At IRI we used the school's Panasonic Digital A/V Mixer WJ-MX12. Anyone have a real video toaster out there?? This Panasonic was ok, but we could do better... Anyone have the Model # on what FIRST uses to store frames and switch feeds?

I was always under the impression the each regional contracted their own A/V supplier.

However, I've never been up close and personal with setting up a regional that's been webcast.

Webcasting

I think the Web-casting is a great idea. I am sure that our school would have enough bandwith on a Saturday. Someone tell me if I am wrong. We have a full T-1 (which is maxed out during the week), but not used at all on Saturday.

I think with the new leadership, and the promotion this would bring to our school we would be able to get this setup.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Here are a couple of suggestions:
NASA TV- they're located about 45 minutes away from us.
Local Television station for recording, co-location for hosting-
We record- co-locate to host

i hope weel have time for hoverbot races

Will it be like last year where the driver and operator had to let go of the controls at the end of the match because the OI wasn't disabled automatically?
