FIRST Jeopardy! (8/1)

What a month we had. It came down to final Jeopardy, but we now have a new champion. But first, in third place with 2000, Joel J. Taking second with 2800 is Jeff Waegelin. And our winner for July, coming out of nowhere (where is nowhere, and why do things consistantly come from it?) to win it all, with 2900 points, Aaron Lusier. Congrats to all three.

Now, we start on a new slate. August is upon us, and with that, some new rules. I'll put these changes up on the rules thread tomorrow. There is one Daily Double each month which wont be known (except by me. I already have the date picked) until the answer is posted. You get double for your answer on that day. Plus, right after the half-way point, we'll have a five-day theme which will cover one subject, and will escalate in point values starting at 100, and ending at 500. And, as of now, me posting the time before each question is official.

Speaking of which, I don't have time to post the time. So, we'll start off with something semi-tough. For 300, this person said "The surface is fine and powdery", and this is what he/she was refering to. You need both parts for credit. See you tomorrow.

Who is Neil Armstrong referring to the surface of the moon during the Apollo 11 mission?
