Today, long time watcher and first time writer (LTWFTW), Joey L., asks,

Question of the Week 08-17-03: What, if anything, did you do for a summer job?

Were you able to work alongside your team's sponsor or do something else interesting and exciting? Was it just another summer lifeguarding at the community pool? Flipping burgers?

I'll be away next week, so your regularly scheduled question of the week will be provided by JVN. Enjoy!

Maintenance and tech at the local YMCA. Something spills, I clean it. Something breaks, I fix it. I can even change a lightbulb... 35 feet in the air. Or clean out a filter on the HVAC on the 50 foot roof (but hey, what superhero is afraid of heights?). And who do you think they call when a computer decides to stop working?

I've also been doing some side jobs fixing computers. I like what I do, and it pays well. Although after reading John's statement, I'm tempted to go into lifeguarding... :D

it puts the lotion on its skin...

I called - it's a real job... too bad I don't have a car :P Eh, I'll find out who the girl is once school starts.

Hm... another question for this thread - what are some cool places to VOLUNTEER?

I was going to work doing data entry. But luckily I didn't get the job and vacationed in Tennessee instead. It was going to be 8 hours a day, weekdays, every week for June and July. It would have paid well but I would have done the same thing every week and lost all my summer.

I'm doing research, which is work for a professor and in this case not paid. I do get a whopping 1 honors unit ::sarcasm:: but I'm doing it more for the experience and the oppurtunity to work with a great professor. I also get to work on my own hours, which was nice for my vacationing and such.

While it probably isn't as intensive as John's research, being the political dork I am, I find it really interesting. I get to go through congressional and tv script databases to determine how liberal or conservative power political think tanks and special interest groups are based on their influence on congressional agenda setting and media. [that would be the abridged description]. Yeah, I've probably bored half of you to death but perhaps if I'm lucky, you'll get to see my name cited somewhere in book that the professor's writing.

Meh I counted mothes at one point for a club. Though I did get my name on the front page of my science teacher's paper.

I figured since all school year I would be basically in up to my neck in school books, medical books ( certifying for EMT), and engineering books I decided to take the summer off and go in the complete opposite range and teach wilderness survival and orienteering! To think I got paid to teach what I was teaching my self in my back yard when I was 7 yr. old and have been doing for fun ever since out in the boondocks

P.S. THIS IS MY 100TH POST!!!!!!!:yikes: :D :) q=~)
