Buffalo Area FIRSTers

Hello all -

I am currently going to college at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and was wondering if there were any other FIRST people around??? I know that the nearest team is in Lockport but I was wondering if anyone else was closer - possibly a fellow Canisius student?!

Thanks,
MissDaisyGirl

i know of a few people at UB, University at Buffalo, The Engineering Campus more specifically that were on FIRST teams and talked about starting a Buffalo team in the future sometime... I can talk to them but i dont know how many people in Buffalo have been on are have even heard of FIRST.

Hey - thanks for the reply.

Yeah, that would be great if a team could get started in Buffalo. All of the people you know of are just at UB? Nifty...

To the best of my knowledge there are no FIRST teams in Buffalo. The closest team would probably be in Lockport, NY. However, there are a large number of teams (6) in Rochester, NY. We would very much be interested in having more teams in the area. Buffalo should most definitely have several teams.

I'm not sure if you'd be interested in starting a team in Buffalo but I think you'd receive a lot of support from those of us in Rochester.

First of all, welcome to Buffalo. Canisus is a great school. My Dad is an alumni of it.

The closest team is probably the Erie BOCES team. They're a newer team and I don't know anyone with it. Haven't run into them at any competitions yet either.

I'm with the team in Lockport (Team 1507, the Warlocks) Not too far from Buffalo, but not really close either. Our mentor team, 378 in Newfane, is just a little farther north.

We have several graduated members at UB, including my son, but none I know of at Canisus.

I also know some people at the UB college-level robotics team, but it's not a FIRST sponsored thing.

If you ever need a fix for robotics-withdrawl, come on up to Lockport. We'd be happy to have you!

Uhm, this thread is almost 4 years old. She's probably graduated by now.
So if she didn't get her robot fix then she didn't get it at all.

Hi Ed,

Ha! I always get tripped up by that small little date in the corner! I wish old, prior years posts got purged to a archive section just to eliminate that pitfall.

Anyway, hope she did well at Canisus!

Hey,

No I'm still here, but yes, I am a senior! To get my robotics fix I've been volunteering at the RIT regional for the past couple of years but its kind of hard/lonely because I don't know anyone from FIRST in this area!

Thanks for your warm welcome though Warlocks, I've heard of you because I've judged the web site award in Rochester while I've been up here and seen your site. I think I'll probably be back there again this year so maybe I'll stop by and say hi!

Hope everyone is having fun w/their robot designs! I know 341 has been busily scurrying to work up ours!

Not to totally re-open a dorment thread, but are there going to be any FIRSTers in the Buffalo area for college next year? I'll be attending the University at Buffalo.

I'll be graduating and going back home to Philly but you will definitely have more luck than I did finding FIRST-ers up here now. There are more teams in the area so you should be golden!
