I'd imagine they aren't named because of the unpredictable nature of their existence and their short duration.

Speaking of natural phenomenon, I have an interesting question to pose to all of you.

"Why don't tornadoes have names?"

This was a question on a co-worker's sons homework the other night, and I thought it was interesting.

Well, because Tornado Tim just doesn't sound right.

As opposed to Hurricane Eddie... now that sounds good.

There is like a new tornado every day, I think. It would be hard to name all of them, and lots of them don't actually touch down and some they aren't sure if they touched down. (I am not sure about any of this.)

I took my dog to the beach the other day. (Hobe Sound, Martin County) She usually runs to the water and runs after the ball when I through it. She didn't run after it this time. I guess she thought the water was too rough. I had to swim out and fetch the ball. lol

You people from further north keep saying that you want a hurricane to get out of school. Well, after all of the destruction, having your house blown down, and loosing everything that you own, you would rather have stayed in school and not had the hurricane. (At least for us because we have to make up the first three missed days sometime during the second semester anyways.)

36 hours and counting, no power... using Eric's U.P.S. to power my laptop for a few minutes of E-mail and Internet Bliss! Soon, after showering in supposedly contaminated water, we're heading out to someplace that has power... I guess I should be nice and let Eric check his e-mail before we lose the little power we have...

GASP GASP GASP!
-catching breath-
"I'm finally back!"
Whew!!!!
After about 2 weeks of no power, food, or cable connection, I'm finally back on.
The video got killed off with the power, and didn't work right, so I'm not going to bother with it anymore. But, at least this thread stirred up some discussion over the hurricane.
whew.
Well, my family skipped town to Tennessee, and when we came back our house was fine. But we had over 80 condemned houses in our neighboring county alone.
Trees are still a big problem. I swear, the land is starting to look bald around here.
Anyway, just wanted to say I'm back.

Do you have some type of hostility towards us? I mean really, it's nice that we are out of school, but I mean hurracanes are interesting things that don't happen every day and we don't get to see one every year or so. It's like Disney World. When you live near it, it's no big deal, but if you live far away from it you plan for a year or so for it and become excited over it. Also, I don't really like how you have said that we wanted this, I know a girl who's house has been condemed.
