$1.58/gallon!???

...thats rediculous...do you have to rub it in?

David Kelly 10-06-2001 14:24

Cheap gas

It got down to $1.54 the other day in Indy. We may have cheap gas, but we have EXPENSIVE groceries. Some survey that they had last month, Indiana is known for haveing the the most expensive groceries in the country. My mom can't go to the store without spending almost $300.

mike o'leary 10-06-2001 14:25

yeah well, groceries may not be as expensive here as they are over there, but it all evens out if you have 5 kids in youre family...

Bill Gold 10-06-2001 15:09

The cheap stuff is about $1.90-$2 here... and my '88 blazer gets about 22mpg :(

Spring of '99

I remember the week after we got back from our first FIRST Robotics competition in the spring of '99, when the gas got to the price of $.70 per gallon. Man that was nice. I could fill up my car for no more than $7. What a difference 2 years makes.

mike o'leary 10-06-2001 22:57

seriously...especially when you consider that the gas companies basically (at some point) take that extra $1.30 times many many lots of gallons and its all profit...
mike who wants his $1.30 per gallon back

A. Leese 10-06-2001 22:59

ok..can I be your typical girl for a second here? I guess even all of you FIRST guys are typical guys, wanting to talk about their cars. OK. There..I said it.

~Angela who found gas at $1.45 (go Florida!..lol)

One advantage of not having a car.

I guess thats one advantage of not having a car:D But a disadvantage is having your parents take you and pick you up from robotics meetings some late nights. Thats why I got a job at McDonalds this summer to try to buy a car. I plan to quit in December for obvious reasons:) Even though I hate my job I still get paid and hope to have enough to buy a car by the time January roles around. What is the best first car for a 6'3 16 year old?

P.S. hey littlefish180, my nickname at school is slinky. So I like you little picture up there.:)

In MD gas is about $1.69 a gallon. Well, you can find the watered-down stuff for cheaper but I digress. We also have the second highest income on average for a state (behind Alaska) and are about number 5 in standard of living. So there :-p.

But about the gas companies taking the extra cost in profits: It's not the gasoline companies, it's OPEC. OPEC controls how much crude oil is produced and therefore controls the cost for oil on the open market. They're the ones that get the extra profit by not supplying enough. Just so you know, if OPEC was a group of companies in the United States (as opposed to a group of countries, which it is), OPEC would be causing a little thing known as "restraint in trade...." Todays lesson in monopolistic practices of the world is brought to you by.......no one because the big companies don't want you to know they're monopolies. ;)

Matt who doesn't know where that came from....

More useless gas info

I was so excited today as i drove past the gas station... i looked up at the sign and saw $1.48 a gallon.. i'm so happy cuz i can now fill my tank for less than $40....:)

Molly Menges 11-06-2001 23:42

even more useless gas talk..

i can fill up my tank for less than $15. ok, so i also have to go get gas practically every 3 days. lol...but hey, $15 is a lot compared to the $5 it used to take. :) if it took me almost $40 to fill up my car, my bike would be getting a lot more use. oh well...:p

Kyle Gilbert 12-06-2001 19:21

Small car
