FIRST Double Jeopardy! (9/29)

For 400, human skin is the least sensitve here.

Jeff Waegelin 29-09-2003 20:56

Where is the middle of the back?

OneAngryDaisy 29-09-2003 20:59

Where is the soles of the feet?

David Hoff 29-09-2003 21:02

What is the heel?

Melissa Nute 29-09-2003 21:02

Where is the floor?

Humans shed dead skin cells constantly too.

EddieMcD 30-09-2003 20:09

David is correct.

OneAngryDaisy 30-09-2003 20:40

whoa whoa... i dont wanna get picky but my answer is virtually the same as david's.. for example- what i found on google for "soles of feet"- (titled "Pair of feet soles")

and now the heel- (titled "heel")

hmm...

The skin itself is equally sensitive everywhere.

There are less never endings in some places then others, but the skin is equally sensitive.

I'm no dermatologist, but I don't believe that's correct. No matter what the nerve ending density is, skin can be callous or not. I would pose that there're parts of skin which are less sensitive than, say, the heel, which is typically very callous.

A callus is dead skin.

Then the answer to the least sensitive skin is dead skin.

(I really hate not being able to edit posts.)

I guess it depends on your definition of "sensitive". I believe that the first two definitions, listed on dictionary.com for the word, cover the two different things we are thinking about:
Quote:

1. Capable of perceiving with a sense or senses.
2. Responsive to external conditions or stimulation.
Less nerve endings would result in less capability to percieve sensation, while calloused skin would be less responsive to external stimuli.
