it's still early in the season, we might even break 1000 this year. how awesome would that be?!?!

When the NASA sponsorship comes out, we should see an additional 50-100 teams. However, when the payment deadline comes in early December, the number of teams will probably drop by 5%-10%.

I suspect that 900 is the outer limit for this season.

Clicking on that same link and scrolling down to the bottom shows two teams, Team 1001003 and Team 1001007. Are these teams 1003 and 1007? FIRST made an error, methinks.

I think thats their temporary numbers. They dont get permanent numbers until they sign up for a regional.

Thats so uncool... I wonder who is in charge of assigning team names- we should haggle that person about the 1337ness of 1337....

they wouldn't have even needed to come up with a team name!

I dont know but until I signed us up for GLR we had a number like that.

PS- 890 teams, 19 regionals full, and 2 with ten spots or less

yay! 901 teams on 11-6-03 at 1pm est, come on just 99 more teams we need to break 1000 in under a month now. We can do it.

I have a feeling the reason why they skipped 1337 is because of its other uses...

Canadian Regional just increased to 80 teams. Only 2 spots left already. This will be a great event with 80 teams and 2 fields. Lots of people to meet and lots of games to play.

Just as they skipped 666 and 911.

it might be just to make sure that no one gets that team number as an actual number because FIRST is obviously not gonna get that big this year
