Eat My Bandwidth

Just for the sheer joy of losing my bandwidth, I want as many people as possible login to my music server.
All you have to do is go into Windows Media Player and goto the file menu then hit open URL. Type in "http://64.123.144.109:8000"
Please do this for me!
I take requests and all you have to do is login, you dont even have to listen just mute the media player
see you there

{EDIT} For you winamp users out there(smart people) just use this link (http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutc...e=filename.pls) and play it in winamp

How do we know this is even your bandwidth to be eating? You could be just sending us all after someone you don't like. I find it incredibly hard to believe you would actually want people to do this, so there must be a catch. I'll pass, and I advise everyone else to do the same.

That is the IP they posted from, so I'm not too worried.

Ouch, that hurts
Well, If thats what youre concerned about, If youll look at my profile my name is Nick, If you follow the instuctions it will tell you that "youre listing to Nick" therefore, I increases the likelyhood that it is, indeed my server, but, it could always be that I just falsified the information, but then again, it would be a great dishonor to my team if i did, and an abuse of the ChiefDelphi Forums. If you still dont belive its me, IM me on yahoo or windows messenger, my name is "Bakachog", request a song and, if indeed it was me, 15 seconds later, you should hear the requested song playing. I just really want to see if it works and find out the limits of my equipment. thats all.
Ouch.

Yeah, what if I was to go to my friend's house (superdan) and post something similar? :p

I mean, it'd be funny, till he killed me for making optonline cap him for the rest of his life.

That was kinda what I was thinking of ;)

Anyways, why would you ask to have people eat your bandwidth, and just leave it running? It seems rather odd to do that... but that's just me.

Victim of Fate 16-11-2003 15:57

well.. im on a dhcp server so in a few days my ip will change
and I just want to test the machine(I swear I could heat the house on the heatsink exaust) and the router and the DSL line and so on and so on...

and besides, I get to bring free music to your box, so that this wont happen to you(http://www.nopulse.org/infodeep.php?num=514)

Ps. way to go to those four people that stayed on for a couple minutes, gold stars all around.

Or he could come back from the dead to take revenge on his killer!

But I doubt that... I'll listen!

generalbrando 16-11-2003 17:28

I don't know about the other people, but I can't stand listening to it for more than a minute or two - using either iTunes or Winamp it constantly stops to re-buffer. I like the music selection though.

Victim of Fate 16-11-2003 19:27

hmm... that would be a problem...
maybe im running it to high quality
92kbs
or to low
Ill bump it up to 128kbs

MattK 16-11-2003 21:24

I used to run a really popular internet radio station here, this was b4 the CARP ruling. what you are doing is illegal.

Just thought I would let you know

If it is stoping to rebuffer, then increasing the bitrate will only exaberate the problem.

You have too many people listening to the stream.

Also as has been said, this is illegal. You bought the music for personal use only. Sharing it over the internet with everyone is not personal use.

Some bands do allow this, like Carbon Leaf, but all major label releases do not.

well...in the CARP ruling, I am required to pay 8% of all revinue incured or 5% of the expense but only if I am registered as a small webcaster, which I am not. Further more, I am not brodcasting publicly, I reserve the right to kick or ban any Ip that did not specificly invite. Also, each Ip must be givin consent to access the stream personally by me. I primarily use this so I can listen to my Mp3s at school/friends house/work. The only reason Im doing this now is test my new equipment. By tommorow the Ip will change and nobody will be able to access the "private" media stream. Also, I do not charge any money for this so I am not making a profit on this... yea... so

RIAA-Eat your heart out

I probably sound like an idiot spouting off a bunch of legal buzz words...yea...
