The day I hear "Particle Man" played at a FIRST regional will be the day that all is right in the world...:)

I agree 100%. Hearing "Particle Man" would be awesome. How about "Too Little Too Late", "It's All Been Done", and "Pinch Me"? Phantom Planet, OAR, DMB, Coldplay, and the Goo Goo Dolls would also go over quite well, by my standards, anyways. These are the more "rock" bands that I like. I realize that not everybody likes Punk, and god forbid I mention a Ska band or two ::coughreelbigfishandcatch-22cough::..

Arrowsmith 17-11-2003 22:38

1. Lifestyles of the rich and famous- Good Charlotte
2. Dare to be Stupid- Wierd Al Yankovic
3. Times like these- Foo Fighters
4. Castaway- Green Day

There's a bunch of other songs, but I don't know who makes them.

Madison 17-11-2003 22:44

I get four more :)
  • When I Get You Alone -- Thicke
  • Paradise by the Dashboard Light -- Meatloaf A. Day
  • Dream A Dream (Miami Booty Remix) -- Captain Jack
  • Doin' Time (Martial Arts Remix) -- Sublime and Pharcyde

Might I point out that members of the Barenaked Ladies are Canadian, and which is even more exciting, a couple of members (steven paige) and im not sure, but someone graduated from our very own, humble little school. thats right folks, from woburn collegiate.. also from a local middle school that i went to as well... exciting stuff no?

also.. there seems to be only one or two genres of music being explored...anything high energy is great, including hiphop, techno, whatever else you can think of

swollen members - watch this, steppin thru, etc.. BC based hiphop

run dmc - run's house, its tricky

nelly - batter up? .. thats always pretty high energy

daniel beddingfield - gotta get through this

dont know how applicable these are, but = )

What's everyone's beef with Sandstorm??

As for music that are FIRST staples:

Styx - Mr. Roboto
Harry Belefonte - Hot Hot Hot
Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine - Congo

As for Songs I want to see incorporated this year:

Tatu - Robot
DDR stuff all the way!!
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Winx - Don't Laugh (Original or Remix)
Robbie Williams - Rock DJ
Sash - Encore Une Fois
StarSailor - Good Souls
Sugarbees - Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Blues
Trapt - Headstrong
and finally...(drum roll please)
Kraftwerk - We are the Robots!!

edit: Just Keep in mind that it is more than likely an outside DJ (re: not FIRST staff or Volunteer) that plays the songs at the Regionals and Nationals so ask them when you get there whether or not you can make requests and\or whether or not you can have them play a cd of your own.

Some of them are ok with that, and some are not!

DUCKIE 18-11-2003 14:10

BNL-who needs sleep
Queen- another one bites the dust

They are the two songs i relate FIRST most to.... and some Red Hot Chili Peppers (love rolercoaster?) would be nice to hear at a regional too.

blind guardian - battlefield

Going with my original two groups...

Barenaked Ladies - I'd go with the faster paced, more "radio friendly" songs - One Week, It's All Been Done, Who Needs Sleep, Another Postcard, and their ilk.

TMBG - Particle Man is a definite must. I'd also consider Istanbul and maybe Dr. Worm. Other than that...I'd leave it up to the DJ. Most of TMBG's songs would work just fine for a FIRST event.

I'm also into classic rock. Queen is always good (Bohemian Rhapsody would be great during a break in the action), as are the Beatles (again, the fast paced songs would work best).

Some Cake (maybe I Will Survive with a minor edit) or Eels (My Beloved Monster, maybe?) would be nice, but that's probably asking too much...

I've got a lot more ideas; I'm just trying to keep my list somewhat close to the limits. I think I've already blown it, though...:D

Me too :D

KevinB 18-11-2003 20:51

Wow ... this list surprised me ... I didn't know FIRST had so many "punk" fans. Which is cool ... FIRST needs upbeat music as opposed to slow pop junk.

I'm really surprised as to how many people like, let alone have heard of Relient K. Do people actually listen to them where you live? The *only* reason I've even heard the name is because I went to one of their shows with my ex-girlfriend. (I must say I was reasonably impressed ... for a christian band)

Finally, un-ban Sandstorm. It is perfect for a FIRST event. Techno forever!

Jay W. 18-11-2003 21:34

I'm likeo one of the only guys in my area that I know of that listens to Reliant K, but I love their music, and belive it or not they are considered a punk band. Oh, listen to Mood Ring, reeal good song for us of the male sex...

And here is my revised list-
Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry - Reliant K
Pressing On - Reliant K
Kryptonite - Three Doors Down
Get it Right - The Offspring
Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) - The Offspring
Smooth Criminal - Alien Antfarm

I'll think of four more, and post them at a later date
