Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

Do remember guys, that the music lineup isn't just for us. It's mainly for the audience out front - most of which will be somewhat older. All this new stuff isn't going to cut it (oh darn, I hate it anyways ;) )

I would guess that if FIRST even looks at this thread they'd cut all but a few of the songs...

Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

Not for us?? :ahh:

At FIRST competitions we are 95% of the audience unfortunately.
It's a form of spectator sport, but it seems to have a probblem in drawing in spectators.. :(
You should know that, you're not a rookie! Or are you??

Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

No, not a rookie :)
I just think that FIRST would figure that we would attend no matter what the music is...

Ok, I hope you didn't take that the wrong way, I just wasn't sure if you knew how much energy was at a FIRST event. (A TON!!)

Yes this is definately true. BUt the point that I was trying to make is that if they want our input on music, then we should give it to them and hope that our suggestions make the cut. If they don't, no biggie..

I love the competitions no matter what the music is and would be there no matter what, (if i diodn;t like the music, that is no reason not to go - I mean c'mon..) but it especially motivates the crowd when a song is played that everyone likes!!

Can you say, Conga Line??
or
Feelin' Hot. Hot. Hot.

Anything by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Neil Young, The Who, etc..

To get the heart moving: Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, In Flames, Deftones, System Of A Down, Machine Head, Chevelle, Evanescense, Incubus, Nine Inch Nails.

Anything Techno is always a plus :)

Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

Yes, I've seen the energy present at the regionals. But, most of the time, I was back in the pits frantically adjusting my code ;)
But I see your point about how the input might be taken...

I'll add a few of mine
(I wonder how many of you will have heard of these... ;) )

Title - Artist - Album
(Any songs from this album) - The Moody Blues - Hall of Fame
Time - Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound of Thunder (heard this one at the Seattle regional last year)
Friend of the Devil - Grateful Dead - The Closing of Winterland
Stairway to Heaven (obligatory) - Led Zeppelin - The Best of Led Zeppelin

And many more... :)

Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

I could totally kick myself for forgetting Pink Floyd! How about Bob Segar or Cat Stevens? :)

Please, allow me! *kick* ;)

I just love classic rock, the artists I posted above are some of my favorites. Cat Stevens is good too, but I haven't heard of Bob Segar.

alright guys, this is what i was able to piece together from the 9 pieces of this thread. if you want more songs included PLEASE try to put songs and artists together.

either:

ARTIST - SONG
or
SONG - ARTIST

(i can usually figure out which is which)

anyway, attached is what I've got so far, and I haven't added any more of my own personal music taste, much as i wanted to. keep posting, and i'll keep updating it. i'm going to upload a finalized list to my personal site about a week before the first regional, and i'll drop the link for everyone there. As well, I am going to make a CD of these songs (well, as many as i can find, feel free to email me if you know where i can get some rare ones people have listed) and bring it to the NJ Regional, the Chesapeake Regional, and Nationals. I am hoping to have a CD for each division at nationals, but we'll see what my funds allow.

Re: FIRST Regional Music Playlist

I have not seen this song on the list yet.

DJ Benny Benassi - Satisfaction

Yes its techno. Although I fear if I place the url of the video for this song, I may get in trouble with someone who may get offended with the type of clothing the girls (no nudity) are wearing while using power tools. Even though there clothes are nothing stereotypical (big understatement) of what you may see in a construction yard or a machine shop, at least they are wearing safety glasses. ;)

What's so wrong about a good video with a good song that has a bunch of specs for power tools in it?? I mean c'mon, it's informative!!!
:D

As for the clothes, for those of you who have not seen the video, it's sort of like the clothes the girls in the new Outkast video for "I Love The Way You Move" wear in the garage...
Very out of place in the environments they are shown in.

i would have to say some abandoned pools music. i think it was team 599 in L.A. in 2002 that was passing out their single 'the remedy'. their logo is a robot guy, and so whenever i listen to their music i think of the LA Regional in 2002. Some other music from them: 'Seed' or 'Florescein'
see their website: http://www.abandonedpools.com/

other good music:
30 Seconds to Mars - Capricorn
" " - Echelon
Metallica - The Outlaw Torn (S&M or original edition)
Metallica - Fade to Black

there are many many others
did anyone see that Apple/Pepsi ad during the superbowl that played a Green Day version of "I Fought the Law?"
Check this copy of the ad: http://www.apple.com/itunes/pepsi/ads/
