your counselor talked you into taking a class before the year started and reassured you by saying "you can always switch out of it" and when you try to switch out of it because you realize you can't pass it and your #9 class rank is going to fall to about number 20 or so, they don't let you!! so when you REALLY do bad in it they don't even let you take the class for no grade (i.e. get the class audited) so you're forced to watch your GPA fall by the wayside during the last semester before it gets locked your senior year.
