Is this retroactive?

If someone has 49 posts and goes around stirring up a reputation storm, nothing they do will matter. If they post once more and reach 50, will all of the reputation they handed out previously come into effect, or is it just forgotten for all time?

It is not retroactive. Once your points count, they count from that point on .. nothing in the past.

is there a way to see how many reputation points some one else has ?? i know that you can see what category they fit under ? and, how many points does it take to get a second dot and a third and so on??

You can see the point levels here: in this thread

There isnt a way to see the # other people have (yet), but you can hover over the dots by their username, and see what level they are at.

i saw that, but some people who will become famous enough have two green dots while others have only one, so i was wondering if maybe this was a mistake, or if there are different ranking levels for the number of dots ??

If, say, I have 125 points, will I have two bars or will I have 1, and then get another when I get 200? Or is it...

1 bar=1-99 points
2=100-199
3=200-299
etc?

$reputationbars = intval($reputation_value / 100); // award 1 reputation bar for every 100 points

And, the way it loops, it adds one to the bars, so:

Code:

50 => 1 bar
99 => 1 bar
125 => 2 bar
199 => 2 bar
359 => 4 bar

I noticed that in my reputation tally box in my user CP menu.. there's a dot prefix that alternates between green and grey dots. After talking to some people, I wasn't given a negative comment yet. What does that dot prefix mean? Anything?

That is the reputation of the person doing the rating.

The points are piled up into stacks, and these stacks are then measured with the official Stack Stick, which is divided into Stack Height Units (SHUs). Each SHU is 100 points tall. The number of bars (pips) is determined by the number of points available, rounded down to the nearest SHU marked on the Stack Stick. One bar (pip) is awarded for each SHU validly measured by the Stack Stick, plus one. Dimensions, drawings and precise details of the Stack Stick are being made available on the http://www.AreYouNuts?.com/ web site.

Andy Baker gave me a rep boost, and he only has one green dot by his name in my user cp link. Is that the rep of the person rating me at the time they do it, or is is the rep of them now?

I assume the later since Andy definitely has a couple green kuedo dots by his name now.

green = positive
gray = neutral (most likely the persons reputation doesnt count yet)
red = negative
