Win2k supports a GB of ram.
Win9x supports 512 MB.
Linux can support more as well, I have seen Linux running with 1.5 GB Ram....
Your mobo can also limit the amount. Mine (Soyo Dragon Plust) supports only 1.5 GB of DDR ram.
Or you can get even more exotic OS's...

2000 can take way more ram then just 1024

Can I nominate myself for the most pathetic computer???\

I have a hand-me-down Tandy 1000. It has a 5 1/4" drive, (2) 3.5" drives, an external 30k harddrive, and a lovely monochrome green and black monitor!!!!

Oh and a printer, a dot matrix!!!

Oh yeah and it has some sort of "windows" type program installed on it called Deskmate.

Works like a charm, when I dust it off and actually turn it on!!!

Then there is my Widows 3.11 for workgroups computer.........

Greg McCoy 25-02-2002 15:12

My Palm m105 and graphing calcuator probably outperform that. :D

I nominate myself for most pathetic. (person, not computer) I have no clue what the specifications of my computer are... I know it can do alot though? It has a DVD player and a seperate CD player... Zip Drive... Pentium 3.... though I still have no Idea if it's a "good" computer.... it's a HP...
