Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
I am amazed that nobody beat me to it on this. Congratulations to Dave Lavery and his hard working NASA colaborers on a successful Mars Landing. The rover Spirit is alive and presumably well on the surface of Mars.
I can't imagine what having a major mission like this really begin at the same time as Build Season would be like. Have you slept yet Dave? ChrisH |

Though it's not exactly the same, congrats are going out to Dave on this post ( http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...2&page=2&pp=15 ) and I would like to add my congratulations too!

I called him last night about 12:45EST after they got the signal back after the bounces. He sounded reallly giddy.
Dave, once again, congratulations to you and the whole NASA team. Wetzel |

Thank you all for your comments! I have a more complete response here. But in the mean time, I would urge everyone interested to get a copy of Meastro, so you can follow along with the science team on the mission, using the same software tools that they use. -dave |
Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
My wife and I were watching the NASA channel last night for the landing. This is such an incredible accomplishment. Congrats to Dave and all the other hard-working, talented people who made this happen.
BTW, I almost turned on the VCR to tape so that we could all see D. L. in a tie! That was more shocking than the actual successful landing! Good job, all. |
Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
Congrats to Dave. Maybe in his happiness, he can convince Dean to make this yr's challenge a little easier :D . Also, I read somewhere that they're living by Mars time, with 24 hours and 39 minutes in a day, to optimize the amount of time they can work. How is it to adjust to that, Dave?

Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
Congrats to Dave. This is great. It's history in the making.
I suggest that you all go to Dave's post on this thread and give him some reputation points. While that may not follow "reputation 101", what he says is golden and we are fortuneate to have him as an active member of these forums. Andy B. |

Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
Dave (and company) congrats on the mission to Mars! It was a great thing to see all of the pics from Spirit. Also it is a great motivation with the build season coming up to see this feat occur as planned and designed to! Once again congrats on the accomplishment and thanks for bringing the dreams to reality.
~Mike P.S.~ I'm looking forward to the color photos :yikes: |
Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery and the whole NASA Mars Team
Congrats on the 1st successful landing of Spirt and I hope that the rest of the mission and upcoming Opportunity goes just as well.
Also, THANKS! for pointing out the Meastro program. It will surely keep me busy my last few free days before 2nd semester. It should be very interesting when the Mars data is available. ......Anxiously awaiting more pics from Mars........... Go Dave and NASA! :D |
