Found the password for the manuals

Got you to look, didn't I? I can't believe it's been almost 24 hours since the manuals were posted encrypted, and noone has yet claimed to have accessed them and posted some allegedly real but bogus pages from the game rules. I always look forward to that in this forum during the waining hours before kickoff every year. Who's going to step up to the plate? How about a fake kick-off video or something?

Sounds like somebody has a low opinion of the ethics of CD forumers. :(

I believe the password will be the name of the game, whatever that is.

It's not that at all... it's just that Gary has such a high opinion of the CD pranksters. =-]

Re: Found the password for the manuals

Would you believe I'm psychic? And I read Dave Lavery's mind... wait a minute... that's too scary to contemplate... so I read the mind of an anonymous someone who helped design the game and I double checked it with my magic 8 ball. It's going to be a game where you can run the entire game on or off autonomous mode, but if you run it on autonomous mode the whole time, you get extra points, however, if you get into a jam you can switch. It's going to have stairs, and hula hoops and inflatable clowns and fifty gallon drums, and slurpees... and the field is going to look like an express way during rush hour where you can try to take the express way straight to your goal or take an off ramp to a side road and get there but the side ways will take longer to reach your goal... oh, and some of the side roads will have ice... and, hey, wait a minute! I don't think I'm reading someone's mind... I think I've just been reading these threads too much lately...

I think it actually will be a combination of numbers and letters. Probably, if they did this last year, 71StackAttack2003, or something like that, to lower the possability of someone hacking it.

I opened it in Wordpad, and boy was that a mistake on my part. So many characters with so little time to crack the code, something i never had the slightest chance at ever doing.

looks like a language so evil that I dare not speak its name. I detest anyone who uses it and wish to inflict a slow and painful death upon them. It is an inhumane language, and an evil one that incurs violence at its very mention...Fine, I'll say it: Klingon...yuck!!! :ahh:

yes! the manual is written in Klingon!

NOW were getting somewhere!

(and my wife laughed at me last night when I bought that yellow 'Encryption for Dummies' book at Barnes and Nobles)

Re: Found the password for the manuals

ok I found a Klingon to english translation website

some of it came out gibberish

but the last three lines are:

"one bot to rule them all, one bot to find them
one bot to bring them here, and in the darkness bind them
in the killzone, where the shadows lie"

Does that mean this year's challenge will be to throw the other team's robot into Mount Doom before the RingWraiths (Dean Kamen, Dave Lavery, et. al.) catch you???? I knew it!!!

So many smart kids...

... and no hackers? No one can break that code? Interesting. I'm not one to pass judgement, seeing as I'm no hacker and I've not even downloaded the files yet, but I can't believe that nobody has the CPU skills to hack that code. I hear of people cracking into government systems and changing the temperature in the White House, but nobody in this whole Robotics compitition could break that code. Hmm... Guess we'll just wait 'till tomorrow.

Smart kids, hackers... whatever. We do have lives and can't spend them in front of the computer all day trying to crack something thats only gonna give us a few x-tra hours of time on the competition. It just wouldn't be worth it... and I have homework to do, oh yea... and that slave labor I do in a sweat shop for pay ... lol
God created man one day,
Übergeeks were there taking notes.
