How Many 5 Point Balls?
All:
I've been through the documentation several times, watched the sample game on the NASA broadcast, and still don't know the answer to the question: How many purple, 13" balls are available on the field provided they're all in play? I count 36 in the bins above the player stations and 6 pre-positioned before the match starts available to the human players. This is gleaned from the documentation, pictures, and the video provided at the kickoff. Is the answer 42? See you on the high ground! Jim |
Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
hmm... I never read anywhere that the human players started with the balls. And if they did the number would have to be evenly divided by 4. Wouldn't it? I'd say 36. Or 36 + 4x.

Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
I know that each drop-off at the start has 18 balls...i think the 3 balls in the corral chute in the drawings are for example purposes only. So i think there are a total of 36 purple balls, and 4 yellow bonus balls. 3 large 2x multipliers.

Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
Each team starts with 3 balls.
Each corral has 18 balls. 3x4=12 18x2=36 12+36=48 Therefor there are 48 5-point small balls. There are also 4 ten-point small balls. Wetzel |

Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
Just a question, but where are you getting the everyone starts with 3 balls thing? I may have missed it in the rules somewhere, but I cant seem to find it.
If you're going by the animation, i'd say it is just for example purposes, and wouldnt be there in the game. If I missed it somewhere in the rules, please let me know. Otherwise, I'd say there are 36 small purple balls. |
Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
SECTION 4.1 shows 3 renderings of the playfeld set up before a match - two of which clearly show 3 balls in a corral - the lable says:
"BALL CORRALL AND STARTING BALLS" Why would they call them 'starting balls' if you have to retreive them from the ball release?! no place in the documention does it spell out how many balls are on the field total - this is very much like a real engineering project - very often you have to read the documention from end to end, and look at all the drawings and footnotes and captions - and often you find critial information in fine print on page 372 of the spec. Engineering is an exact science. Specifiying to another person exactly what is requried or expected with words and drawings is NOT! Its very difficult nd error prone because not all words have one precise meaning. Welcome to my world! :c) |
Re: How Many 5 Point Balls?
does anybody know how many purple balls can fit into the goals?
