Gasp! (but not that important)
NO!
<R14> Electrical tape is the only adhesive-backed tape that may be used on the robot. It may only be used as an electrical insulator No duct tape :( :( |

Nope, and not the year before that either (though that's as far back as my experience goes).

Re: Gasp! (but not that important)
I guess Dean and/or Woodie haven't given the duct-tape speech in a few years then. They both hate duct-tape. They view it as a kludge. Several times on my high school team I remember hearing one of them lecture someone on this when that person was unlucky enough to have asked why we couldn't use it... ;)

Re: Gasp! (but not that important)
Let's stage a FIRST-wide rebellion!
Every team that wants in, put a large, conspicuous piece of duct tape on the robot. How can the inspectors stop every robot? Or.. maybe not. Can Duct Tape still be used as a decoration? |
Re: Gasp! (but not that important)
No, it would violate the flow chart of acceptable parts because it violates a robot build rule, rule R14.

Re: Gasp! (but not that important)
lol, no, it was not allowed last year, be used some on our front wheels so we could turn better, then over the loud speaker, they said "please do not use duct tape on your robot, especially your wheels.
Some where, we will sneek a small peice of tape to be rebelious |
