# Balls that fit in goal

Has anyone made a goal (large or small) and determined how many small balls will fit in and still have room for the multiplier ball?

Also, how many small balls will fit in without a multiplier ball?

Thanks

My team did some calculating today and figured that out.
Small goal (movable)= 9 balls w/ room for the multiplier
Large goal (stationary)= 15 balls w/ room for the multiplier

hope this helps :]

Did you do this calculation on the area thats inside the goals, because that would mean that your amounts would be balls perfectly placed in there, and not thrown in by the Human Players. The best way would be to do testing with a FIRST goal and balls.

We did that calculation using a 3d cad model of the goals. We originally had 2 different estimates based of just the area of the goal, both of which turned out to be wrong.

And yes a test would be the best way to tell for sure how many, but being that my team doesnt have a goal constructed we figured a 3d model would be the next best thing

Has any team actually constructed the goals yet?

just finished design phase so thats the one of the next two simultaneous phases that comes give it a week and most teams will be at that exact challenge (if they aren't already)

our estimates were based on the volume of the goals and the volume of the ball, with a 66% derating

we came up with 15 and 23 - leaving room to cap

Re: # Balls that fit in goal

the small goal should be able to hold 9 or 10 balls and still be able to cap (I say 9 and still "safely" cap, Lavery says 10 - so when in doubt, I guess you'd go with the rocket scientist. Not gonna win many disagreements with a guy who actually fits the "rocket scientist" cliche) :)

I don't remember the large goal exactly - but I think it will hold about 16 and be able to cap safely, probably + or - 2 balls depending on how they fall and position in the goal.

Hope that helps.

I went to NH kickoff ---- stationary 22 - 24 full 14 - 18 with cap
mobile 12 - 14 full 9 - 11 with cap maybe could add one or two to each with some luck.
Good luck to all :D

How many small (5 pt) balls are there per side anyway?

Hmmm...
Tough question.

I'm not certain, but relatively sure the answer would reside in your manual.

There are 18 of the purple ones that get released per side, and don't forget the two yellow small balls (10 pts) if you can rescue them.

18 on each side, plus 3 for each team (6 on each side, 12 total), 4 bonus balls, total to 52.
