6 pneumatic cylinders?

We have always been impressed by the Bulldogs machines and it looks like they have done it again.

But I do have a questions. It looks like that they are using 6 pneumatic cylinders, 4 for the gearboxes and two for the arm. Aren't we limited to 5?

I believe it's seven.

Nope, five.
The FRC board misspoke and said 7, then they corrected themselves and said 5.
5 is the max number you can use on your robot.

I only spot 5, however. Two for lifting, two down low extending into what appears to be gearboxes, and another really big one that I can't see what it is for.

Angle iron?

There is one small problem with team 60s goals. They are missing thier angle iron on the edges of the goal. That is going to add wieght. Have you compensated for that wieght that you are missing? Do your goals weigh 180 pounds each? You might want to check!

If you look on the gallery photos there are also two cylinders in the front gearboxes.

Look a little closer!!

We wish to congragulate Ken Leung on his thoughts about our robot. Look closely at his messages because Ken is on the right track! If you look closely at the pneumatic cylinders you will discover that not all of them are being used as some might think.

Also, Team 60 has always played with "gracious professionalism" and we intend to continue our tradition. You can count on us playing hard and playing till the last seconds of the match. However, it has never been part of our stratgey to intentional harm another robot, and we will continue that tradition. The goal spinning is a product of our design and was never built with the intent to harm another robot.

We applaud all of the discussion on our robot and continue to look forward to hearing your thoughts and reading your responses. Good luck to all of you and thank you for your input.

Also, we appoligize if our web page has been hard to navigate and here is a link to our 2002 Bionic Bulldog.

Slightly out of date, but...
I was pointed to the picture of team 60's robot yesterday by Tom Schindler (team 177) and I was literally speechless. If that robot works as well as I think it will, they will accomplish alot. Excellent job team 60!

RebAl 10-02-2002 14:38

Just me?

It might just be me but the seat motors did not come with the bendable shafts like on the robot seen in this post, nor is it on the additional hardware list. Did team 60 know this?

RebAl 10-02-2002 14:41

never mind i just noticed ours was missing from our kit :( , argh! That would have helped with some designs!!
Someone is getting a call

If you like team 60 you should watch team 105. they look like team 60 but they use the gyro chip to spin the tower one way and there robot another all at the same time using something else to lift and brace themself to the ground.

they hit the goals at 3.7 sec. from the start. then move at less than 1 ft/sec afterwards.

I think team 60 and there design is going to be a common one.

who ever can make it stronger and better with come out on top.

Loud Noise?

Awsome bot. I don't want to be anywhere near it once it starts rotating those goals. One question...

What will happen if while spinning (2) 181lb goals, the 3rd 181 goal is forced into it (worst case, tangential, and in a direction oppossite to the rotation)?

It will be interesting (and possibly loud).

well that aint too bad

I am really hoping we don't have to face this team in the comp., on the other hand you all should ba afraid of team 151's, we will rock the house! I think the "turret" style is menacing and hard to get goals with, but you all think this is impressive wait till u see 151's, ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This I wanna see footage of....
However, would team 60 then be hit with a DQ for damaging the field? I call to mind the rulings that a robot pushed sideways and riping the carpet is at fault, not the pusher.

Care to share any pics? Or will we join in the laughter?

ggoldman 10-02-2002 19:47

Team 60's bot does rock.like i said b4!!

How fast can you guys get to the goals?

I mean what if another bot took those goals from you b4 you got there..what woudl you guys do then..

Also, What if the goals werent lined up straight...can you guys grab from any angle?

Things to think about

Gabe
