Drill motor gear
 

How do we do to prevent the drill motor gear from "falling" ? As we were testing our chassi proto, if the acceleration was too high the gear would just desengage. Any ideas?

i am not sure exactly to what you are refering to but here are my two best guesses



1) you need to fascen the shifter in one direction or another, FIRST provided rubber bands for this this year but i would sugest hose clamps both should do just fine

2) if you have not put in the left handed thread screw to the alumium block to the tranny then it will unscrew and fall off. the left handed screws are in the drive train bag each in seprate sealed plastic bags. once you put the alum hex block on then put the screws in backwards.

hose clamps arn;t in the kit they are a standard plumbing suppy used for attaching rubber hose where you can tighten them (see the picture below)... if you don;t have any just use the rubber bands that are in the kit and you should be fine

Got it... the problem is solved now! :) the guys were forgeting something... I really don't know what exactly, it was that backwards stuff... anyway, thanks a lot

If you are trying to keep the drill transmission in low gear, just unsnap the black plactic unit on the back of the transmission where the motor slides in. Rotate the removed unit 180 degrees and reinstall. The black plactic unit is assymetrical and when you turn it around, a plastic flange on the unit will prevent the transmission from going out of low gear.

aye, that's what we did to lock in the drill motors into low gear. last year we had crazy problems with the shifter drifting into nuetral and...need I say more. The rubber bands can work if they are applied properly but that can be difficult.
