Offical Team Food?

I dont think that most teams have an offical food (besides pizza) but we do. Its a fruit, the Kumquat, its a small orange like fruit that is extremely sour and good. If any other teams have a strange "offical" thing, it doesn't have to be a food, I want to hear about it.

Since we X-Cats are such an internationaly diverse group I'd have to say our trademark food would be potluck(we have one every year).

Well Us 522 members past and present have grown a custom to having Albanian pizza which tastes awesom A&S Pizzeria just a 5 minute walk from the school. You can imagine what build seasons like. Only 1 person leaves the building to bring back food and drinks while everyone else works there tale feathers off. :] ;)

I am going to have to say doughnuts with green icing. We ate them at competitions last year. We used to give away MOEmints (chocolate mints), but those didnt hold up well in the Florida heat.

We have one "Mothers Pizza" that is about a two minute walk from where we biuld the robot and if you want a large in there you cant say that, (there not on the menu) you would say I want a "big Mother."

Wendy's... there's a Wendy's across the street from our school, and we practically live off it during the last few days of build season.

We also have one team member who makes really good chocolate chip cookies... those are sorta an official food, too.

Hey Ed, what about the bagels in the morning on saturdays? I always looked forward to that + the fact that the XCATS have their own soda fountain at their site

the florida team - Can you get chicken wings in florida? I thought chickens only grew wings in buffalo NY?

for our team, one engineer use to bring in a box of Twizzlers every day - and we had a raw carrot thing going on for a while

but now we mostly hit the vending machines

PS - only two saturdays down so far and I've already developed an adversion to pizza!

Old Pizza with Ranch Dressing was pretty standard last year for us. Also there was a time toward the end of the build season two years ago, where in the cabinet and the fridge we had:

-Taco Shells
-Sugar cubes
-Peanut Butter
-Jelly

Yea... so we put the PB&J in the taco shell and covered it with sugar... Not to good, but it was food.

Yeah RAGE is pretty much addicted to Dew. We cleaned out the Fiesta super market(of two liters cause they were on sale cheap) next to our hotel last year in Houston.

Last year, during build, we opend a drawer in visteon and its contents amazed us. It had ketchup musterd and relish packets from 1987. The only ones that still retained its original color was the ketchup. (however it was three shades darker)

Re: Offical Team Food?

Our team eats DP Dough - calzones, but better. There's a store downtown and we usually get it every night... As a team, we probably spend (lemme do some estimates)... around $1800 during the season on that... Hence why we want their sponsorships. There's quite a few DP Dough stores. Google them to see if they have one near you.

One of our team member's mother is the desert chef at the biggest vegetarian restaurant here, Moosewood. So she brings us lots of goodies frequently :)

Re: Offical Team Food?

You all probably know what I am going to say!!!

S...P...A...M...SPAM...SPAM...SPAM

This is like our induction ceremonial food. Subway and the Coke machine seem to be more popular.

In case anyone was wondering, SPAM stands for "South Fork High School" "Pratt & Whitney" "and" "Martin County High School". We might have to change our team name since we are adding a new high school in the county next year that should be apart of our team. I am not sure yet though, so don't quote me on that. So far, we are planning to be using our famous name, SPAM.

Sorry if that last paragraph was slightly off topic.
