Mplab startup error

We've tried searching but no one else seems to have the same problem. When we run mplab ide a windows error occurs closing down the program. We've tried reinstalling multiple times but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciately.

try reinstalling in a new computer. if it is a problem with one computer it should work. if it is the problem with the whole program, try getting a new MPLAB IDE 6.3 cd and reinstalling.

I had the exact same problem. In install, it says to ignore the USB stuff, so once the thing installed I pressed cancel when the USB install stuff came up.

You need to let that finish.

However, if you go into the MPLAB folder and run register.bat in the dlls folder, it will start working with your current installation.

I had a similar problem when I tried running the IDE on one of our junky old donated computers with Windows 98 (not SE). What OS do you have?

If you're on a LAN make sure you're not running "roaming profiles." I know we have problems with MPLAB and Inventor with that. We'll logon to one computer and run the install and then logon on another computer and run the program that's been installed locally already but it tries to grab our config files from our user directory.

We have old 98 (not SE) computers and it works fine. Make sure you don't install USB drivers. Also, you will get a message saying that the program might not function right?, but it works fine if you close it.
