Re: UCF regional!
since there are two threads about UCF regional... i didnt want any chiefdelphi reader to miss all these teams and the names of ppl who were really gracious and helped at all time... so i am posting the same post again here....
"UCF regional was AWEEEESOOOMEEE.... it was so much fun... First of all i would like to congrats all the teams... all the teams were great... i was very surprised by performance of the rookie teams this year... they were very inspiriing... some great robots like... 945, 233, 61, 311, 179, 312, 180, 762, 665, 79 did an AWESOME job... this was probably one of the best regional which would be happening this year. And ofcourse you cant forget the spirit of combat, swamp and S... P... A... M... SPAM SPAM SPAM!!!... i would like to thank Kenny Ardizone for all the times that he put in for FIRST... he deserved the woodie flower's award... now that i have seen these 41 robots... i cant wait till i get to Nationals... which is going to be awesome... now ofcourse we gotta show FIRST that what florida teams can do... I would like to thank swampthing, spam and PAW... they were there anytime that i needed their help... thank you so much Tytus (swampthing), Amanda (swampthing), Gary (Spam), Tiffany (spam), Mr. Higgins (Spam), Peter (paw), Dan (paw), Ryan (paw) ... i dont remember of them saying no to anything that i have asked throughout these three days... just like the practice day when we found out that we were 137 lbs... they all were there to help us and we got it down to 125.6 lbs... The time passed by so fast that i didnt even realize i was there for 3 days competing... i would like to wish all teams good luck and our best for their coming up regionals and nationals... we are going to have a good time this year..." |
Re: UCF regional!
hey having two gives me a chance to say the rest before i fall asleep 1083 you guys are awesome, SPAM, you know we love our sister, thanks so much to both of you and everyone on your teams, elimnations were harsh on the robot and the help you gave us was awesome, we made a great alliance sigma cats you are great thanks, im really bad with spelling names so im not going to but to every one i talked to thanks i had so much fun, i think i can speak for the whole team on that, it was great to meet so many people and i cant wait for nationals!
PS i was laughing about this on the ride home, on the way there when we hit mile marker 179 (yay!) right after it we say exit for 180, tytus can testify for this also, we where laughing abuot how it would be funny if we ended up alliying with you, and look we have george from 1083 and spam, funny isnt it? may you dream of robots! |
Re: UCF regional!
UCF was awesome! Got home about two hours ago. I can not talk at all. I was screaming so much during the competition! If you saw me on saturday I sqeaked, and hoarsley whispered. Doing better now though.
I'd like to thank 233 for... Well EVERYTHING! We teamed up in one of our QMs and did wonderfuly together. (140 pts is not bad if you ask me. ;)) I'd also like to thank them for giving us the HUGE compliment that they did about us being a really smart, and strategical team, that they really liked working with. A bunch of us went down and cheered for pink in their last QMs, and in the finals after our alliance was knocked out. I'd would also like to issue ANOTHER thank you to pink for some of you guys coming down and giving us fives, after we won the Motorola Quality Award. You guys are totally awesome, and like I've told some of you before "Hopefully, we'll see you at Nats!" (I hope we get to go! :D) Too bad we didn't get to team up in the finals, if we hadn't become the 8th seed (because of alliances moving us to 8 from 11) you guys could have picked us for your second alliance. Which *I think* was going to happen, and that's why you had a hard time finding a third one. One of my team members was like "Oh no, now they can't pick us!!!" Lol. Good luck in NY 233! I gotta mention 1144, for a second year team all the way from Portorico (sp?) they did excellent, and were one of our better aliances in the QMs. :) Congrats to the regional champs 945, 386, and 61- (who broke our hook in a QM.. but no hard feelings. We made a new one that was stronger soon after. ;)) Also congrats to the finalists, 233, 311, and 1144! Finally congrats to ALL of the award winners! Good luck in the rest of your regionals, and at nats! See you in Columbia (South Carolina)! :D |
Re: UCF regional!
Very well done to all teams. Too bad ComBBAT looked so bad, but we did figure everything out for our final qualifying match, and then our drive system had issues. Wait till you see us in South Carolina in a few weeks though :) As for all the other teams, excellent job. Finals were very exciting. Can't wait to see you guys all again.

Re: UCF regional!
Great job guys! those finals were some of the most exciting I've seen ever in my 4 years at FIRST. I really believe some of the best robots got into the finals. I was dissapointed 233 broke at the end, just because I wanted to see what would have happend if they worked the entire match.
I think 945 quite possibly has one of the best robots in the nation right now! that thing was amazing and quite effecient.. capping and hanging within 25 seconds! thats truely amazing Great job to everyone who was there it was truely an inspiring and fun regional. I can't wait for next year! Even tho I won't be on PAW ne more :: sniff sniff :: See everyone at nationals ( hopefully ) Dan |

LoL well.. next year I'll be going to school at UCF. Where I havn't fully decided what I'll be doing.
I'll either be working with 1083 ( ya'll watch out.. ) Or be fully involved with working on like Florida FIRST or something.. Not quite sure But I'll be at the competition either way. Dan |

Re: UCF regional!
This year's regional competition was awesome! Everybody's right--the teams were great! A special thanks to everybody for making it so awesome!
I can't believe how well we did--even when our robot flipped, bending our arm, and when other things went wrong...we persevered and did great! Plus we got the Judge's Award :ahh:  Amanda and Tytus were great drivers, and Daniel and David were awesome human players...ask anybody on our team, most can vouch for it--when Amanda and Tytus did one of the matches, we were actually talking about how when they get up there they become like one person. :p -Zach- |
Re: UCF regional!
Thanks to everyone for making UCF amazing. (Though was it really necessary for Flashback to yell "We love you, Kristina" while getting on their bus? *blushes*) I can't wait for nationals... Atlanta will never be the same.
Oh, I got the slideshow from Friday afternoon shortly after they showed it, so if it isn't posted yet, lemme know and I'll post it later (insanely slow connection at home, so I don't want to if it's not needed). |
Re: UCF regional!
well its been a while, i just woke up and found on delphi that there are no pictures of the ucf regional yet.
im realy looking forward to them, except the happy face one that george took:o I Realy want to see that one that was taken at the bowling aley  |
Re: UCF regional!
ottid to everything said about UCF. It was much better this year than it was last year. I thought the robots were awsome and also they seemed more durable this year. Not many robots that i saw were critically injured, (tho i wasn't in the stands for most of it) But for heatwave, great job at fixing your arm after it broke, (I was there for that)
And Swampthing, a big THANK YOU from S.P.A.M. in beleiving in us and picking us. And to George and the Emoticons omni-drives rule! Congrats to all who won awards and c u all in the carolinas and nats! |

Re: UCF regional!
one thing that i realize about this year @ UCF was every single member of every single team in the pits were wearing safety goggles... which i think is very cool... one thing about it though... one of the volunteer was standing outside the pit asking everybody to wear safety goggles... i think that we all should be responsible of wearing safety goggles in the pits at all time and hopefully a volunteer doesnt have to stay infront of the pit ALL day to ask everybody to wear safety goggles next time...

I think this was the best thing FIRST has ever done. By doing this there was not the big crowds in the pits. The people that came into the pits were very kind and helpful. I know from the past there are those people that just don't care and stand around taking up space. The people that had saftey glasses on you could ask for help and they most of the time knew what you were asking. I also like that it did not rain this year becuase we were in those tents. I hope they find another way to house those robot better in the future. One thing I did not like was they stop me from bringing in a bag of life savers. I need them becuase of all the yelling you have to do to talk. I can see food and drinks but life savers? it was nice to see Gov. Bush and the other VP. |

Re: UCF regional!
Ya i think it was good that everyone had to wear them, but then there was the problem what if you didnt have enough, my parents didnt come up till friday and my team didnt have any extra ones and the pit adminstration gave all theres out so my parents couldnt come back and see the robot up close

Re: UCF regional!
Man...all I have to say is that the UCF competition was AWESOME. Every part of it..the matches, the teams, everything. I'd like to thank all the teams that were there for their gracious profesionalism, and congrats to the winners (insert team numbers here, its late I can't remember). Also, thanks ComBBAT for the use of their battery charger during our 2 finals matches. I know ComBBAT and The Flashbacks will be comming here (South Carolina) for the regional, anyone else?
Ps I have pics from my camera loaded, they'll be up shortly. And, big thanks to #233, great team, hope to work with you in the future! |

Yeah, tell everyone they'll loose an eye and no one cares. Tell them they'll loose 10 points, they'd come wrapped in bubble wrap if the rules called for it. Hey, btw. No one had my flux capacitor i was looking for ;) |

Re: UCF regional!
Well this was my last competition with SPAM (can't miss the school for palmetto, and prom is the weekend of nats). Next year i'll be on 1083, if they'll have me (seems like im not the only one). UCF was great, thanks to swamp thing, which was in my opnion the best bot out there, awesome job guy.
I really hope we can manage to hang in palmetto, and get it perfected for the championship. We got off the ground in our last match on saturday, which was a big help to our confidence in our current arm. |
Re: UCF regional!

Re: UCF regional!
WOO WOO! The UCF Regional event was my first FIRST competiton ever, and let me tell you, I never had that much fun at a live sporting event. Sure I nearly lost my voice, but hey! That was the last thing I was worried about. Thank you to all the teams who made my first FIRST experience a great one! Special thanks to Coquitron (did I spell that right?) and the Red Jammers for being such great alliance partners in the finals. You guys ROCK! WOOT! :D
|
Re: UCF regional!
I will say, it was quite depressing loading all of the field equipment into the FIRST semi afterwards and just seeing the arena empty after taking everything down... but then again... the next competitions are still close. That's what's great, there's always a "next competition."
