3 Questions!!! (1/28/04)

Here are today's (mildly tougher) 3 Questions...

1. What team has been known by the robot names "Nor-east-beast" and "U-Fo"?

2. Who was the second winner of the Woodie Flowers Award?

3. Who was the first team to utilize the Gyro in competition play?

1. 151 - Nashua High
2. Woodie won it first, then Liz Calef, then Mike Bastoni
3. 233 had their "gyro adjusted" arm in 2000.

3. Just taking a guess here, but my old team, Team 192 GRT used the Gyro on their arm at 1999 and won a control system award from it. I believe they are the first team to utilize the Gyro in competition play.

1) The Sanders, A Lockheed Martin Company & Nashua High School team

2) If you included Woodie himself its Elizabeth Calef
But if not includeding him its Michael Bastoni

3) 233 from Cocoa Beach FL (Think Pink)

Re: 3 Questions!!! (1/28/04)

1. 151
2. After Elizabeth Calef, it was Ken Patton (since you used Elizabeth Calef as your answer for the first WFA winner)
3. 192 used the gyro in '99 and had a lot of trouble with their feedback loop at the San Jose regional. I think I heard that they fixed it by Nationals.

1. 151 Nashua High
2. Woodie, Liz Calef (88), Mike Bastoni (23) ... depending if you count Woodie himself

Re: 3 Questions!!! (1/28/04)

1. 151
2. Liz Calef won it after Woodie won it first... but going my Grady's recent twist, Mike Bastoni would be the answer he is looking for.
3. 192, GRT

Re: 3 Questions!!! (1/28/04)

1. Lockheed Sanders & Nashua
2. Elizabeth Calef (1997)
3. I've heard that 45 was the first to use it

{edit}OK, I've been replying to these threads without looking at the other replies first (more fun that way!)... My revised answer to #2 is Michael Bastoni. Understandable if it's not accepted, though.{/edit}

C'mon Grady.
Make at least one question almost impossible to answer.
Something only the most obsessed FIRSTers could answer.

That way the "rookies" ;) can answer 2/3 but only a true "student of the game" can get the full set.

Never claimed to be a vet!
I'm only going on seasn # 5. The only reason I know some of this stuff is from listening to the "old fogeys" of the competition like Grady.

A veteran rookie,
John
