ATTENTION Detroit & West Michigan Participants
U.S. Army RDECOM/TARDEC and Team #1447, Centerline H.S. Panther Robotics announce the appearance of our Mobile Parts Hospital at the Detroit (WSU) and West Michigan (GVSU) events. :D
![]() The MPH contains all seen here: (except for the Laser Scanning Station – which is off doing it’s thing in South-West Asia) MPH Show Ready Events is working to supply a live video feed to the Virtual Theater, so you won’t miss any of the action when you visit us. As a way to entice your team to visit the MPH at those events, we are offering to build lapel sized scale models of your 2004 robot – one per team member – up to 30. The conditions are: #1: Send a “clean” STL file of your robot, pre-scaled to fit in a one-inch cube, to Eclectic@Comcast.net, NLT 1-March, 2004. Include the number of models you’ll want us to burn. (NOTE: These requests will be verified as authentic with the respective team leaders!) #2: Visit the MPH at the competition to receive your model – one per person, in uniform or otherwise verifiable as a team member. At least ½ the members must visit in order to receive all the models, the remainder will be given to the team leader, or his/her representative. By clean STL we mean – fully connected – physically reasonable. We will not fix any files, but rather send them back to you for correction. Try to produce a shell of the robot, which the sintering machine will turn into one solid piece. Use common sense as to the resolution; the machine will melt together anything within +- 0.025” from each other. No need to support any arms, booms, etc. - this layered, dry powder method can build a “Ship in a Bottle”, provided you leave a way for the un-burned nylon to escape. Regards – hope to see you at the competitions – and good luck this year, JJ |

JJ PS: Too bad we must limit it to the participants at Mo-Town & Grand Rapids; but resources do have limits. PSS: To avoid getting Mail Washed, help me filter out the SPAM by using the subject "MPH Scale Model" in your request. |
Re: ATTENTION Detroit & West Michigan Participants
We are actually attending a regional in Dteroit and the Great Lakes too. I don't know if the detroit is the "motown" or somthing different. It must be the same ubnoless its a non-first event.
if it is the Detroit regional, how would i go about getting these? It would be very impresive and very interesting to do! |

The Detorit Regional is at Wayne State, but it's still part of the Motor City I guess.

Re: ATTENTION Detroit & West Michigan Participants
Due to the fact that there may have been too little time between shipping your robots and our 1-March deadline - we are eliminating the deadline. Just try to get them to us ASAP so that we can have them ready for you at the event.
Also, if you have CAD models for your bot, but are unable to produce the sterio lithography file, please PM me and I'd be happy to help you get the job done. We have the ability to import a number of formats. I will turn some of our kids loose on the task. Jack |

I'll have to see what I can do on my own. Are you going to make a scale field too? I must say that I've been inspired. |
Re: ATTENTION Detroit & West Michigan Participants
Ok, just to make sure i have this right, the model must be no larger than 1"x1"x1"
I dont want to amke a model that wont work! so please confirm/deny quickly if possible! |

However, unless demand shows a significant increase, we will up-size the requests we have so far. So, go ahead and scale it by ( 1/{largest_dimention} ) we can always re-scale it to whatever size we decide to make them. Jack BTW, at the one inch size, we can burn about 1200 at a time, which is no where near the number we've been asked to make so far. |

Since demand is low, would you be willing to do them for our team as well? We won't be competing at either of these( we did GLR and Nats) but we will have some people at Detroit as spectators. Please let me know if you can, and I will get the files made ASAP. Thanks Josh josh.vetter@us.bosch.com |

// EDIT// Er - after a good night's sleep I realize that I should not make any promises that I may not be able to keep. Our team, #1447, is preparing for our very FIRST event, which begins Thursday in Detroit. Perhaps the lack of sleep and a "get the job done at any cost" mentality has caused me to be over zealous. So, I'll have to appologize for getting your hopes up, but I do not see how we can extend the offer beyond the scope of the events where the MPH will appear - Detroit and Grand Rapids. JJ |
