Nice job! The biggest problem I've seen from many rookie teams each year is that they never get moving, or if they do its much further into the build season or sometimes the first time they move isn't until their first regional. 3 weeks in and you guys are up and moving, congrats!

congrats. most teams are still in the design phase. We had a moving model week 1, but we tore it apart to design the mechanisms for the year. if we had a camera, and a web site, id post a vid but we dont have anyone to manage the website, who we dont need working on manufacturing.
again great job, good looking bot, and it looks like a very smoothe driver

Great job getting it running, that's more than many rookies accomplish all season. Now take it a step further, run it into the wall, drive it off a 12" ledge, try to push an immovable object. Your robot will have to withstand all these in competition and you're better off finding any faults now than at your first regional. Don't treat the robot like it's fragile, your opponents won't give you the same treatment. Our rookie year we were content with simply driving, then we got to competition and were useless because our drivetrain wasn't strong enough. Continue to beef up your drive system until it's solid enough to not worry about anymore.

Our robot is able to push heavy objects and have the wheels continue to turn when somebody is in front of it holding the robot back. We even had two guys get on boths side of the robot and push down on it, and the wheels would still turn.

About a week ago we were just getting it to run and we did have problems with it (it wouldn't spin on carpet,) but switching into a lower gear fixed everything. Maybe I shouldn't say everything, but right now its a lot better than it was.

yeah, those hefty tires make skid steer hard. We remembered to compensate for that last year, power wise, but our drive train wasn't really up to it. wheel bearing blocks were mounted in 80/20, and so the bearing blocks would slide maybe a centimeter and the axel would twist and all sorts of bad would happen to our chain.

This year we aren't building it in the same way. We will have pics up soon.

Chassis coming in tommorow!! we have everything else we need to get moving! hopefully by this weekend! yeah! moving! yeah!

Our arm is also progressing well. Weight will be our main enemy this year.
