Chief Delphi Photo Safari

Have you ever been just walking or driving around, and seen a number, and been like "oh, look, that's team XXXX!" Ever wished you had a camera to take a picture of that number? Ever actually TAKEN a picture of that number? If the answer to any or all of the above questions is "yes", then this is the game for you!

The Chief Delphi Photo Safari!

The rules are simple. If you see a team number (yours or someone else's) in an interesting place, take a picture, and post it here, along with a short description of where you saw it. A few rules:

Rule #1: No obscene or inappropriate pictures. Should be a no-brainer, but I'll say it anyways.

Rule #2: Please limit each post to 2 or 3 pictures, and don't post repeatedly. You can go out and take as many pictures as you want, but please don't come and post them all at once. Give other people a chance.

Rule #3: No set up or photoshopped pics, please. I can't really enforce this, but the point is not to make a picture up, it's to take a picture of something you see out in the world.

Rule #4: Be creative! Nobody wants to see 40 pictures of cash register receipts and clocks. There are all sorts of places where you can find numbers... take advantage of variety.

Rule #5: A message from Brandon Martus: Please link your pictures externally if possible. Attach pics to this thread only as a last resort.

So, now that that's all out of the way... let the safari begin!

Re: Chief Delphi Photo Safari

So, to kick it off, here are a few pictures I've taken:

The first comes from my summer trip out West. I saw the sign for Interstate 229, outside of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and took a picture for everyone's favorite 229er, JVN.

The second comes from IRI 2003. A few of us went around the Omni Hotel, looking for Room 201, and took a picture.

Finally, going along with the theme of picture #1, I took a picture of Interstate 696, here in the Detroit area.

So...here is the story for this pic. I work at Rolls-Royce where they manufacture Airplane Engines. One day, I was but incharge of taking pictures off all the tools that the CNC mills used in my department. There are over 1500 of them, but I only had to take pictures of about 1/6th of them. So, I have many, but I decided to post number 1020, the Prankmonkeys.

I made it smaller so it didn't take up so much space.
My dad was out in a town doing his job, and he just took this picture. He was taking photos of the area for work.
So yeah I found it while surfing the pictures in his file.
How convenient! :) Team 405, The Chameleons.

I drive by this sign whenver I feel like avoiding highways on my way home from work. I never really noticed it until after I got back from the championship in Texas in 2003... Interesting, eh?

Yeah- I have the google search bar (is that what it's called?) And it tells you how many pop-ups have been blocked. A while ago, I had 811. Now I'm up to 2571, but I don't think that's a team yet.

Over the summer I took a trip to Disney's California Adventure, and they have free lockers outside their raft ride for storing your stuff. When you put your stuff in the locker, they give you a random 6 digit code that you use to reopen them. My code was 190-126, which was quite easy for me to remember. I would've taken a picture, but my camera was inside the locker at the time.

However, I do have a picture that was quite obvious, since it was taken only a few miles from WPI:

Went to downtown Los Angeles to drop off my 13yo at the Union Train station. Stopped at Burger King. I looked at the number in preparation to pick up the food - 294!!! Right then they called 294! I walked up and pointed to the big number on my chest, "You mean this one?!?" He looked and had a big grin. Wish I'd had a camera with me at Burger King.

I just was randomly looking at the crest box while brushing my teeth (don't ask why...) and I saw the net weight numbers looked familiar, so I went to the Index of Teams on the Wiki, and haha there are such thing as Teams 181 and 64, Birds of Prey and Gila Monsters respectively. =)

Press Print Screen when that's open and then go into paint and press Edit>paste. Then save the file as a *.jpg.

Thanks for reminding me, Beth.

All of you are trying way too hard (odometers, room numbers, freeways). This is why 217 is a magical number:

217 Days Until Bush is reelected - From Fox News clip in the movie OutFoxed
Ordinance 217 - sign on enterance of Ford building where we build our robot
217 Swandos - Googled my last name. 30 seconds later, it was up to 229, btw.

I found this one down at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum. Note the tail number (I don't know the correct term) 67. The plane is a F-111A Aardvark. So the plane's model number is a team # itself (111) Wildstang.

If anyone lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, theres a highway 694 right through Fridley. I missed the chance to get a picture last summer, won't escape me this summer.

I also, somewhere, have printscreens of three itunes songs with their play count 6 9 and 4 and one of my gmail account with 694 emails.
