Recall that the Maize Craze robots were tethered and therefore had no batteries on board, no Robot Controller, no speed controllers, no relays...and the LARGEST motors were seat motors! The WPI robot used 2 seat motors for driveline (!!), and 2 much smaller motors for accessories...and that was it. Btw, there is a class for combative robots (I've seen Tyler Forbes') that weighs under a pound WITH full r/c, speed-controlled motors for driveline and "weapons"!

Yeah, antweights. But at most their weapons seem to be a wedge. The robovation robots weigh way less than 25 lbs. I think the one I made was like 6 or 7 and could have probably weighed 3-4 faily easily. I used a battery that weighed 3-4 times the backup batteries and had a nearly functional arm.

Actually Tyler's has a horizontal axis, spinning (15000rpm ?) forward weapon that pretty much destroys all-comers (actually this may have been in the couple pound class--it was about 2 in square, CNC'd aluminum sides with single layer carbon fiber covers). Amazing...
