What is your team doing for your presentation.
We are wondering what other teams are doing for their chairmans awards presentations. We are leaning twoards a power point slideshow, but our doors are still open. We are probably going to have one person present most of it, but all 3 answer questions. Your oppinions and responses are appreciated.

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
i would say that you want to show examples of the things talked about in the 4 pages

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
we are gonna give examples of the 4 pages, plus cover stuff that we didnt have room to put in the report. We are also probably going to incorporate a short video.

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
We are going to have a video or two, some posterboards, and our enthusiastic voices. Also add some stuff that wasn;'t in the submitted form. Can't wait!

Did it seem that posterboards have been effective in the past?

(I remember one incident with a team out side a hallway; as a judge was walking by, he over heard a comment a team member was making about another team. The judge took down his team number and may have caused the team an award) At the Chairman’s Award interview it is up to the team to decide how they want to present themselves. There is no set rules on what works and what doesn’t. I personally believe the one-on-one conversation with the Chairman’s judges tense to motivate and impress the judges more than powerpoints. Good luck to all CA teams. :) |
Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
We have a fancy scrapbook that covers everything we do. We used it last year. It especially look nice to judges. We also took the posterboards which shows all of our sponsors for that year. We had four of them last year (four sections: platinum, gold, silver, panther paw). They were impressed by the shear number of support we get in our town. We had like 60-70 businesses. They thought I was done after two boards.

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
the scrapebook is a good idea. Lavery, we should do something like that, Heidi'd have more than enough pics, the question is time

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
Like last year, Team 007 will bring the "Q-Log" which is a 4" binder with all the business and communication documentation for the year. We don't put this together for the Chairman's Interview; we put it together because it is the documentation for the team. We had to recreate the team last year and it was tough because there was so little documented about the business of running the team. That will never happen again. It contains all the correspondence with sponsors and potential sponsors, including our dozens of thank you letters. All our engineering updates, our team surveys, lots of photos taken during the off season and outreach. It is a scrapbook and a filing cabinet combined, containing the past, present and future. It is a great tool and it's portable.

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
In both 2002 and 2003 our panel of three students was prepared with copies of the entry, a larger "Yearbook" that included more detailed information and pictures than could be placed in the four pages, posters of what the group felt was the most powerful part of the team message, and video loaded on a laptop. All of these tools our team uses for promotional/sponsorship events and opportunities, so we create these items anyway.
The group then decided what examples to show based on the conversation in the interview and the judges' needs. Don't sweat too much about what you go in there with, the judges want to who you are and what your team stands for. Good luck everyone! |

Re: What is your team doing for your presentation.
It states somewhere in the award papers that you must bring all the equipment you need to do your presentation i.e., powerpoint, laptop and projector
Rage was thinking of going with a birthday or/ bulldog theme (birthday cake or dog house w/ things inside) we're not exactly sure yet, but we're submitting at UTC, so we have a tiny bit of time, and with our team going to NJ, things are crazy, so we're all thinking about it at the moment. |
