3D Model Showcase
Post some of your work here, good or bad, with your name and year too

Re: 3D Model Showcase
Those are really good! Are they 3DS? How long did they take to model? What did you use as a reference, just a picture?
I'm a senior, but this was my first year helping with the animation (my younger brother has been doing it). I modelled the 2004 FIRST field in POV-Ray, and later transferred over all the measurements into 3DS for our animation. (The POV-Ray still renders are better though.) I've seen better models of the field in some of this year's animations, but I think ours is pretty good. Here are some high-res stills: http://www.plainedgeschools.org/hsrobotics/3dfield/ |

Re: 3D Model Showcase
well, for the M4, i just found a side view of it and started modelling. For the enzo, I found some blueprints at onnovanbraam.com and spline modelled it. I'm redoing it though, as an actual enzo this time, with a little more attention to detail and stuff. I was on a deadline for that one, so ya know. Im also working on an APU from the matrix. Thats gonna be sweet when its done ;)

Re: 3D Model Showcase
I like that building Thetadot. are the tiles a bumpmap or the actual model? the shadows darken it up nicely.

no bumpmap

Re: 3D Model Showcase
WOW>.... Theta dot!!! the first building is amazing!!!! the rest are okay...but the building is fantastic amazing etc..... very very detailed....
The enzo is nice but the windshield slopes in more, also the "nose" that goes down the middle of the hood is narrower , there are holes in the hood, and it has wheels .... The interior is very nice but the body needs some tweaking.. i'll post pix in a sec... |

ooh...one more thing
@ THetadot: The kids eyes are too close together. |
Re: 3D Model Showcase
I am truly amazed, particularly at the cars. I know this is a dumb question, but how can you model a car so perfectly? Do you have measurements to work from?

Re: 3D Model Showcase
blueprints, my dear boy, blueprints
|
Re: 3D Model Showcase
lol, yea, blueprints...
i've tried several times using blueprints... no success.. The farthest i got was splining a Mercedes M-class.. I couldn't figure out how to "skin" it... maybe this summer i'll try to work on it some more. If you're not going for accuracy, box modeling is an easy way to go. |
Re: 3D Model Showcase
Ya i know, Salik, i already restarted the body design and stuff, this time with wheels, and I'm doing it with more attention to detail and such since I have all the time i need now. Your renders are nice, are you using Vray? The only thing i would suggest is to increase....whatever it is because the reflections and such on the renders appear jaggedy. I like the car alot. The Zonda is an awesome car, I remember it from project gotham 2
