Coolest Driver Dance

Yeah everyone, i wanted what everyone is planning to do this year as their pre-match driver dance. We are continuing our "big pimpin dance" I thought the techno ticks (236) had the coolest dance last year, and I wonder if anyone was going to try to beat that out, and if they are repeating their dance form last year again.

I dunno if it is a "dance", but at Nationals last year when 469 came running out when their team was called for the finals, doing backflips and everything... that was awesome :]

You all better teach us something when we see you.

All we know is the "Oh my God, No data/Radio...reset...reset" dance before our matches!

Ya just gotta give it to the Tick Boogy all the way.

We got a hand shake thingy but only the HP and the Coach do it...

Definitely the technotick dance.

Always an awesome sight to look over and see the entire drive team doing it.

Most people on 121 know the dance to see this year is the Phyz Dance  (Watch for it...it's rare...)

The one and only Phyz Dancer in the world
--Phyz ;)

P.S.--10 years of dance lessons and I can't remember a thing, so the dance is...original

Re: Coolest Driver Dance

Last year we did a dance with our robot on top of the ramp. See, Heather would disable or flip all the other robots (including our partner) and then go to the top of the ramp where she spun around in 360s wildly waving her arms. The croud loved it. Does anyone remember, we had pink bumpers and pink and green flags. It was a low down fast powerful robot named Heather.

Anyway, I am proud to anounce the return of Heather's viscious arms now called the RotoWhack G2. Also, the pink bumpers will be making a comeback and there's a possibility the original Heather flags will be making their way onto the new robot.

I have to agree. At the 2003 New England regional, 236 was our alliance partners in the elimination rounds, helping us win the regional. Our whole alliance did the tick dance when we were announced. It was awesome.

Yes! We selected the Ticks to be our first partner at Nationals in Houston.

Was it because they have an awesome team?

Or was it because our drive team wanted to do the Tick Dance?

I'll let you decide! :D

I would have to say both since they did have an awesome bot last year.

Myself, Sarah, and whoever the human player for the match at the time happened to be had a pre-match dance back in 2001 and 2002 on Team 71...it consisted of us standing in a circle, jumping up and down with our hands in the middle, and someone giving a pep-talk. Then we'd break and go on our way...it seemed to be fairly successful and many people thought we were wierd :ahh:

Good times...:tear:

Re: Coolest Driver Dance

I used to harlem shake before my matches. But it always looked kinda odd and well, white. :-) ( Sometimes I'd throw in a little crypt walk ) We also had a coordinated dance with our robot during the middle of the matches and the robot would clap a beat. ( that is to say if we'd done all we could and we were up against like no one else.. and mainly practice matches ) ... We always tried to get the crowd going with it.. but it never seemed to work.. boo hoo

It was more to get my nervousness out. I know this is kinda off topic does anyone else get really nervous when they are about to drive?

This is quite true. I *tried* to do it in front of a group of friends and well let's say, they just stared at me and all just kinda took a big step back. Tick dance all the way! ;)

I love the tick dance, but sadly I didn't get to see it at UTC :( Hopefully 121 will have a great driver dance in Atlanta. We already have the "2" thing, and we "bump it" when we win a match, but I think we're gonna come up with something even better.

Cactus_Robotics 22-03-2004 19:39

Re: Coolest Driver Dance

Our team started something new this year and it went off great, the 4 in the player station got into a circle and swayed yelling and jumped around, while our team did the same in the stands on the floor. By our last match in the finals we had a 125 person circle all swaying and yelling, it was awesome!

I know the tick dance. I made my brother [ricksta121] show it to me and I realized that it's the dorky white person dance that I love to do at school dances. I'm not sure why I didn't see it at UTC (maybe because I'm on the 121 drive team and I was paying more attention to operating the robot than anything else.) But I'll definitely try to meet up with you guys if I have the time. I don't mind making a fool out of myself for free stuff. See you there!

Our drive team is kinda funny.. we all just generally listen to music.. and well Harlem Shake but it looks more like convulsing..

Last year we had the arm sway which is where we would move our robot arm back and forth and clap to the beat of whatever song was playing ( with the box gripper )

It was a crowd pleaser.. well atleast it pleased me lol

Tick Dance is the best IMO. As oz_341 said, the tick dance at Nats was pretty awesome. We had their guys doing it an our arm operator was getting involved and everything. Coincidence that we won the Galileo Division with the Ticks? I doubt it, also credit to Buzz for their great bot last year.

I just remember last year when we partnered up with 236 (and 175), everyone was like, we gotta win this division. Great robot for 236 in 2003 and great dance forever.

his costume is modeled after the short lived, but highly comical sitcom, which i believe was just called 'The Tick'

personally all teams with mascots and/or dances hold a special place in my heart

Re: Coolest Driver Dance

While on the topic of dances- at NJ and UTC, 237 had a tendency to do the "shimmy" dance- we flapped our hands at the bot and prayed it would keep the other bots off of the pole. When we get to finals, there's the fingercross/shimmy dance where the team keeps their arms in the air, their hands stay flapping, but the fingers, also are crossed.
;)

lol, we were thinking about doing some kind of daisy mascot, but I think we had trouble finding people that would run around in bright spandex while wearing a big flowerpot. Maybe seeing the TICK in person will change our minds.

Subs we can definitely do, there is a Subway near Drexel and we can just pack some subs in the crates and give them to you guys at nationals. Hairspray I think we can do also. We have stuff that some of the Daisy fanatics on the team spray into their hair and turns it blue and stuff, so I guess that's the stuff you're looking for.

Thanks for the link! I think a lot of the rookies will be unfamilar with the Tick dance and this will help them to properly present those subs. I think we could definitely get our arm operator to lead us in the dance, he is pretty talented.
