Interesting. Our team uses that same acronym (SAM) for a part on our bot.
With the exception that it means Secondary Articulating Mass, not the prefered meaning of yours.
None the less, it looks interesting. Best of luck!

That arm is interesting. It looks like a folded up tv antennae. I'm interested in your drive system. I see the motors mounted on 45 degree angles, is each wheel independently driven but driven together via the program? I'm guessing by the design you could literally turn around in one spot.

We too (1083) have the same drive system, somewhat, as SPAM, Its called holonomic. We have crazy good manueverability (SP?) If you want to see some pictures and video of how our, and the same concept as spams, robot drives look at this thread... http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=26102

Since 'Surface to Air' is in there, does that mean that your grapling hook shoots out (attached by a cable)? Like a missle?

Hi,
The grappling hook is hoisted by the unfolding scissors lift. ...no missiles

George: love the video of your 'bot! ...see Thurs.

I'm going to guess that it unfolds while they are on the bar...to try and block other bots from getting to the bar.

I think it's for corralling the small balls.

The tall blue pvc on the far side knock the 2x ball off while the other blue pvc on the front have pnumatic wings that fold out to herd balls, there is also a hook located underneath the 2x ball knocker which can pull goals very easily.

Okay yeah our bot is drivign on a 45 degree angle--pretty cool--

I have to say i LOVE our omini wheels they are totally cool--- they take a while to assembe but it's all good-- and well it's our first year with them--no treads all well

Good luck to all--see you at competitions-- S.A.M. will be ready to go!!
