NJ Regional---congrats

hey everyone. i hope everybody had fun over at sovern bank arean for the NJ regional. i have been doing the NJ regional since 97 when i was a freshman in HS and every year the regional gets better and better. i would like to send out a congrats to teams 303,237, and 56; the winners of the NJ regional. you guys sure put on a great show. team 237 that is a great arm that you have and how you can play defense while you are off the ground. its a great robot you have. team 303, you guys are quick and usre have a great grip on things.....hint.hint.hint.hint ;) i am very happy you guys won the regional. that robot of yours is great. team 56---your robot was outstanding on the speed and you guys played some great defense. the three of you really gave team 25 a run for their money. lol....on another note what did everyone think of the new venue? i thought it was great.....there was sooooo much room for everything. post your coments on that here as well. well thats it for me. for the rest of the teams in first who have not gone to a regional yet GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL. and who ever is going to Annapolis team 25 will see you there. and for the rest see you at nationals everyone.

thanx. Venue wise not sooo great i think too long between pits and stands and too big of an arena the sound was being dispersed too far out into the empty section part of the reason it didnt sound soo loud. My fav venue is still the Rutgers College Avenue Gymnasium... that was just an amazing place to be in.

Once Again. The Teams from NJ and other states have pulled another spectacular competition to kickoff the 2004 Competition Games

First off. Congrads to the Regional Winners Teams 237, 56 & 303. You guys did a superb (spelling?) job in dominating the competition.

Congrads to the Runner ups. You guys did one heck of a job to keep the #1 alliance at bay. You guys put up a tough fight espicially the last couple of matches.

And to all those who have participated including The Brailzian Teams. You guys fought very hard and though you may not have a medal / banners or trophies to show for it you are still winners for the simple fact that you never gave up.

Those Teams who participated in NJ I look forward to seeing the same result in the Upcoming NYC FIRST! Regional In just a couple of weeks. Hope to see all of you there !

Who are going to the Nationals and not a second regional.

Once last and Final Time, Congrads to the Winners and Runner-Ups of the J&J Mid-Atlantic Regional of NJ.

Mike
P.S. I will have pics uploaded as a zipped file since I took so many. However Both camera batteries ran dead b4 I got to match 85 so I was unable to take the pics that I wanted to. These pics are of Match Qualifying and some all to familiar faces of the FIRST Volunteers.

Re: NJ Regional---congrats

So while the rest of 237 is somewhere in NJ having their celebration dinner...I got back to the computer!!! :D

First off. Soooo many congratulations! I would like to personally thank and congratulate teams 56 and 303 for being such great alliance pairings. I had a good feeling when you both accepted :) To 56 - I've known you guys for a while (since when we raised money for you when you had flood problems)! You always put out something solid, and it was a pleasure to finally work with you. And then there's a team I wish I knew better, team 303, with "The Fridge". You guys are amazing. Absolutley amazing. Without these two top-notch teams, we would have been knocked out long ago.

I also loved when both of your team's ladies came around and shared in our "Thank You" chant. That chant is the thing that brought our ladies through the 2000 UTC regional win, and it was an honor to be leading it and to have you there with us.

I'd also like to congratulate the opposing finals alliance, teams 716, 87 and 613. You put up an awesome fight, and this regional was by far one of the most nail-biting I've ever been to because of you! 237 originally mentored 716, and I thought it was fitting that we played against you. It's marvelous to see what you've grown into. To 87 & 613 - you two are great teams that I (again, sorry :)) don't know more about. I'd love to hear from you, you guys were great!

I'd also like to thank the CD posters who recognized me throughout Saturday. I get a kick everytime someone says "Oh, I know you, you're Jess Boucher". (Side note - Brandon, my family made you cookies and passed them off to your dad. There is a separate bag in there for you with 20 cookies in it, so if they're eaten you know who to blame :p)

I'd finally like to thank team 237. I know I'm an absolute pain in the butt, with me calling at random times and yelling at you at college in the next state over, but I am seriously proud of how smart you are and the spirit you have...its a perfect mix of old and new, kids and bigger kids, and you have blossomed into a team that I am proud to say that I am a part of.

I must say, people thought I was crazy for working all day on Friday, taking the T from Wellesley to Boston in rush hour, taking a bus from Boston to Hartford, having my 'rents pick me up from there and then waking up at 4am to drive to NJ, but it was all worth it. Not just because of the win, but just the pleasure of being welcomed back into the FIRST family.

And with that, I'm exhausted. :D. See you at UTC!

BTW I forgot to mention the pics have been renamed to describe what your seeing so you don't need any guessing. I created a couple of lame ones for the FIRST volunteers but heh whatever works

Edit:/ The Links in the Whitepapers WILL NOT BE UP until Brandon approves them. I Uploaded them you may or may not see them up as early as tomorrow. If he's not bogged down with work by then. I'll try and get them going on my lil website that I will probably change into an FTP Server instead as soon as I can.

Congratulations to Teams 237,56 and 303 dor their win. We tried to make the finals as interesting as possible! BTW, four of the alliance captains were from CT and will be at the UTC Regional, should be very interesting,

I want to thank Teams 87 and 613, not only did we have great matches during qualifying, you did a fantastic job in all the final matches!

Jessica, we continue to tell our new memebers how your team and Team 157 helped us our rookie year. That experience forged our desire to help any team, new or not.

I couldn't have said it any better myself... I miss that old place...

Re: NJ Regional---congrats

Before I say anything about the Venue or tha game, I do have to give my thanks to 237's alliance partners, 56 and 303. Both of you were awesome, and while we beat up, your won the game for us. We really really, really could not have done it without you.

I also want to thank 1403, 1257, 007, and 56 for helping out with scouting. Between the helpful comments and information about driver's, teams and stategies, we were made even more powerful by all of your effort. I am personally very jealous of the excellent scouting book 56 had, which was excedingly helpful in selecting potential alliance partners.

I also wish to give props to all the other teams against us in the matches and in the finals, you gave us a run for our money every time. Your robots were fantastic, and I hope my team and I have the pleasure to fight with and against you come UTC and Nationals.

I loved the Soverign Bank Arena, and much thanks to the voulnteers, even if there were a few confusing computer errors. Thanks and good luck to all teams!

Thanks alot team 56 and 237 for being our partners. You guys were great. This year was fun, lots of hangers but who cares. I had fun and the competition was quite interesting. F.I.R.S.T needs to get better food next year as well as more rock music into the mix of music. Also they should play the music low in the pits to make it more uplifting.

 Thank you to all Teams for their Gracious Professionalism! I am always overwhelmed by the students, it is a real pleasure to be there with all of you.
Special thanks to Teams 237 and 56 for making Team 303 part of the winning alliance. What a great show we all had!! We are going to Annapolis next and hope to attend the Nationals.
GO TEAM 303! :) :)

well i guess i am in a crowd by myself
for once i was amazed by HOW MUCH ROOM WE HAD
every year since i have participated in FIRST everyone always said rutgers was too small, and well it was, they CAN'T hold us anymore which goes to show you how much work the RINOS (rookies in need of support) crew has put into NJ, NJ is growing big time, we will have atleast 50 teams registered in this state by next year, btw next year may be a little harder to hear, seeing as we will have 2 fields one right next to the other. i can tell you NJFIRST has plenty of room to grow, i was one of the team queing people and we had more than enough room to comfortable set up many matches in advanced. i loved this venue (besides the drive, i just wanted to sleep in the stands ever night by the time it was over)

*throws in 2 cents*

I only have two suggestions for the venue:

1) Offer food that is not meant to be fried

2) Open the pit area on the other side, too, so that I don't have to walk 2/3 of the way around the arena to get from pits to stands... and wait for people who stand on the steps :/ (or blow my back out like I did helping carry another team's tools crate up the steps)

Otherwise, I liked the venue a lot, and the volunteers and whatnot worked really hard to make everything run so smoothly. And it really did run smoothly! I was very pleased, considering it was the first major event of the year!

Thanks to 56 and 237

I'd like to send my thanks to Team 237 for choosing us as alliance partners in the NJ Regional, and 56 as well, for being outstanding alliance partners.

Our three machines meshed really well - thanks for letting us be a part of such a great alliance.

And a personal thanks to Trinora for the shirt. (I was the guy who accepted the alliance offer. ;) )

Hi everyone. The Johnson and Johnson Regional was fun...even though we didn't get picked by an alliance. Not to worry, we'll be better by Long Island and then Nationals so get ready! I'd just like to thank MOE team 365 and Rage team 173 for the spirit awards they gave to us. Our team is very proud that you recognized our enthusiasm. Once again thanks a lot. We all had a great time and can't wait until Long Island. Hopefully EVERYONE will join in our team parade this time.

Team 007 would like to thank 1382 and 1156, the Brazilian teams for traveling all this way. It was wonderful listening to you sing your national anthem each day, and trying to communicate over breakfast in the morning at the hotel. I wish I spoke Portuguese, but it's amazing how much a smile can communicate. Thanks for giving so many shirts to so many on our team. Please consider coming to Chesapeake next year. I'll help you find the hotel again!

I would also like to invite your team (and extend this invitation to all teams), please consider coming to Brazil ( http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24139 ) so maybe in 2005/06 we might have a Brazilian Regional. We had fun at the regionals, and I think it went pretty good considering it was our first time.

I'd like to thank 228 and 56 for their assistance with the joysticks, and also our alliance teams 75 and 224. Now we have to get prepared for the next regional and the NATIONALS and prepare to fix our shattered gearbox. Who thought it was a good idea to make gearboxes out of plastic....

Anyway I hope we see everyone in Annapolis and Atlanta!

A sincere thank you to all participants in the NJ Regional. You all impressed me with your gracious professionalism, especially when we hit some bumps and potholes (to say the least) in the road and we didn't have any quick or positive answers for you. You were all just great! You made my job a pleasure!
