MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Is there going to be some kind of MTV special on FIRST or something? At the NJ regional there were 2 people from MTV following around a team filming everything they did. (the team was 7 something i think?)

I talked to one the the cameramen and he said they were doing a documentary on the kids school. Hopefully there wil be a segment on FIRST in there also...

I was hoping for more of a: "True Life: I'm addicted to FIRST", but's that only what we can hope for.

On the Camera it said "MTV DOC. #7"

Anyone have any information on when it will air?

We talked to the cameraman, but I forgot when he said it will air. I have to talk to a team mate tomorrow and I will see if he remembers. I think it was middle march, but I am not totally sure.

Most definitely it had nothing to do with Team 7 (Team 007). We wish!

if the documentary does air im pretty sure that a little bit of bright green will show up in the video because our annoying green cant be missed lol

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Wow, that green certainly is annoying. I scrolled down in a dark room and my eyes began to hurt from this sudden flourescent green burning into my retinas. ahh

lol... so this is what first is coming too...

now all we need is a bunch of teenie boppers, and boy bands and we'll fit right in. woodie made really good comment about jessica simpson being so dumb...t'was kinda comical ;)

Well if you all recall during Kickoff, we were having Science and Technology (NASA Mars Lander) competing for media attention with the MTV Generation News (Britney's Wedding).

Maybe FIRST has finally realized that the target audience for the participants involved in FIRST are the MTV viewers of the nation and the world, and thus invited them for some PR work!!

Mike Schroeder 08-03-2004 15:39

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

according to the event coordinator's assistant (thats right, volunteers got all the connections) they were doing it on one student/mascot so my guess was that they were filming the knights of fury's mascot ;)

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

I think the real question here is when did MTV (if you could call it Music television anymore) become so interested in doing documentaries!

I really dont watch MTV, partly for what Woodie said about Jessica Simpson, and the fact that it is so hard to actually find music/videos on that channel! Besides, when would I have much time during these last weeks to watch TV.....

The only show I can think of that can even be close to being a documentary is True Life. Though the shows topics can range from anything. Though some of the topics are pretty much lessons in what not to do with your life. In all honesty it is a fairly decent show though Im generally not the type to watch those shows.

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

altough i hate mtv, i would like if there was something like a true life about FIRST. This is becuase first seems to only effect the people directly related to it, and to those people it has made a great impact. It would be great for MTV to show that first really is "cool" and fun and not just for nerds like most people think

IMDWalrus 08-03-2004 17:54

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

For those of us who weren't there...

What DID Woody say about Jessica Simpson? There are all of these references to it, but I haven't found the quote anywhere yet...

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

He was talking about what we are interested in and what's happening in the news, then he said that a big headline last week or month or whenever was that a riot was started by people who were mad because they couldn't get Jessica Simpson autographs.

Forsaken85 08-03-2004 18:34

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

If MTV was doing something, I hope that they would tell F.I.R.S.T and then tell all of us. I hope that they bring it main stream, and do one of those documentries, about FIRST having this big impact. If i could ask, would someone email MTV and ask if they sent someone there. Then we could know for sure and if they did not send someone. Then email them and talk about FIRST and the impact it is having on the world. Sound good.

Terminator6 08-03-2004 18:40

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Well this whole MTV thing interests me personally, but how much will it actually show of FIRST, do you know? I could imagine MTV cutting out all of the juicy fun stuff because they dont seem to like geeks, I do think that if FIRST was going to be any major part of the show then FIRST would have been notified

Hop_of_752 08-03-2004 19:33

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Well they actually found it interstin and said it was mad cool for them to be there being geeks themselves but FIRST is a big part of my friends and I life so count on a big part of it being in there and if we do get chossen they should be at nationals with us aswell

Sscamatt 08-03-2004 19:38

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Act like a fool at school so they dont show those parts and show all the parts at FIRST competitions :)

Maybe I'm the only one that remembers the Mandy Moore performance at nationals 2 years ago. Seems like teeny bopper to me :)

Something along the lines of "Jessica Simpson is getting all the attention for being ignorant and stupid"

Yeah... That was bad! lol Half the people in the stands rushed the stage, and the other half (my team included) rushed to the team party!!!

I knew something was going on that day cause there was a big drum set on the main stage all day. I just thought it was going to be a real band of some kind, not a performer.

Nick Mac 11-03-2004 17:27

Re: MTV cameramen at NJ Regional

Ok. I'll admit it...most of my team rushed the stage...but thats besides the point! I'm kind of upset that there is a reason for them following people...it just ruins my theory that they don't care and that they're only interested in money! But it definitely is cool that they've chosen to follow someone involved with FIRST. Good luck.

I noticed the big Marshall guitar stack first -- I never would've guessed it was for Mandy Moore's band! Needless to say ... I instantly pushed to the front row anyway and managed to get a wink from the pop star. ;)

A popular singer is a popular singer ... who would want to miss that?

Me... I really didn't see all the hype about a teenager with extremely short hair singing- I had plenty of time going on many EPCOT rides while the park was open only to FIRSTers, although most of them stunk. (To all of you mandy moore fans, please don't take this as an insult, I wouldn't have stopped to listen to anyone)

seriously, though, I heard that someone was crowd-surfing during that concert and another person dropped the surfer, cracking their skull open.. and that this is why FIRST doesn't allow dancing anymore- truth or a myth?

Truth though I thought he broke his neck plus he had a full scholarship. Also I don't know if it was at nationals.

Buckeye at the Rock n' Roll HOF. I didn't know if his skull got cracked open but he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. FIRST told u slast year no dancing at the afterparty. And I thought the ROck n' Roll HOF was already a drag. No way I'm going back there.

continuing on that tangent...during the team party in the Saturn V exhibit at the KSC regional 2 years ago, a kid ran full speed into one of the steel struts that held up the rocket while playing ultimate frisbee. they had to call an`ambulance for him, and word on the 'street' was that he dislocated his shoulder

Am I the only one who doesn't know what True Life is? Is it another one of those MTV 'seasick camera man' shows? If they could hold the camera still a bit more, maybe I'd be able to watch the channel for more than 3 minutes :P
