Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
LOL i love it.....what a strategy....fantastic.....
|
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
IT WAS GREAT! 1241 was demolishing people all day with thier bot and human player. I give it about a week before 1241 comes up with something to counter that awesome move and tactic!

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I am at school :( so i cannot view the video. This sounds like an interesting strategy. What exactly happened... How did it work...

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Great video. Where did you pull it from. It was obviously the FIRST feed which was projected on the big screen.
Are other GLR matches available for viewing somewhere? Thanks! |

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
The source of the video was a tape that I borrowed from one of the mentors on my team. I believe that they brought a VCR and hooked it in somewhere at the regoinal to record the feed. I just digitized it and put it on the web site.

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
GRRRRR........ I knew this would get out on CD sooner or later. Oh well our bot just can't be lazy from now on. Great counter-strategy though.

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
ah yes... lol the "laundry basket bot" being capped... sounds weird to people who might not have seen it :D
nice video...our engineering team might want to study this thoroughly and see what we can do about it :) once again I'm going to say GREAT JOB 67!! that was one insane move! |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Wow! That was truely the greatest strategy I have seen this year. Amazing match, thanks for posting the video.

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Nice footage. That was a very good stragedy. Did you guys plan this before the match or was it an on the spot thing?

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Well as my teammate Andy Grady says "for every strategy there is a counter strategy" and i think that we see a perfect example of this here.
kudos to the person or persons who came up with this strategy. |

:ahh: :ahh: :ahh:
Very interesting! We could also do such a thing... I'm getting a few ideas.... |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I hadn't even thought of that before! but now that we know what we can do... i guess that re-enforces (5,6)-1 vs 2-(1,2)
...if you have no idea what I am talking about, look at this |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
that was one of the best strategy that i have seen this year... HOT and team 280 has great robot.. they made a really good alliance... where they went for the scoring and also played defensive... great job guys...

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I have to say I think when 1241 got capped the crowd went wilder than at the end of the final championship match. Congrats on the awards again 1241, you guys really deserved them.

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Why is it that whenever I watch a video from this site the colors are all reversed? I've never seen the Canadian flag in blue and white before...
Edit: On second thought, it looks like the red and blue color values are just switched. Maybe I'll try it in Windows Media Player. Edit: Wow, it works in WMP. Weird. |

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Very nice move HOT, you guys always know how to play the game. To 93, 1241 and other net/basket/collector bots. ComBBAT also has one of these designs, and we were worried about this tactic. One way to help prevent this counter strategy is to cross surgical tubing over the top of your basket. The big ball won't settle in and will be more likely to roll off. The little balls still slide by the thin tubing and go into the basket. It is easy enough to try, although it won't solve all problems. I also wish your partner's better auto modes.

If a team were to hold a 2x ball over the basket while its closed, and a team were to open the basket, I would think that the force would at least move the arm out of the way. |

Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I remember that match...
Great job guys! :) --EDIT-- Also want to congratulate you guys on your autonomous mode. You never messed up on it! :) |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I'm just curious... I noticed that in the beginning of the match that robots blocked both ball chutes with the mobile goal and I remember hearing that that was illegal to do... Did you get called for that or anything???
On the other note... GREAT JOB!!! |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
Nope, no call, but trust me, I think we talked to every ref on the field to check if it was ok!
|
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
I think it was ok to block both ball chorales with goals. a single robot couldn't block both ball shoots by itself.
I remember this match so well. first match (or at least one of the early ones) of saturday, most teams are sleep deprived, the game starts and everyone wakes up. AMAZING! both chutes blocked, 1241 looks like it's gonna have a rough day and then - the robot is capped (kodak moment anyone?). Oaktown Crewz gets knocked over, and TNT hangs. Wonderful strategy by 67 and 280, and thanks to them, 1241, and 1188 for putting on a great show. Woke me up for the rest of the day. _Alex |
Re: 67 Capping 1241 Video
i remember one of our matches... we got nervous because they were both ball catchers so what we did was block one with the mobile and one with our robot... we thought you couldnt block both but we were a distance enough we thought... *shrugs* oh well...
