Snow or no snow, the tailgating party is still ON for Saturday morning (as of this posting)... We can all build snow-people in the parking lot! Or maybe snow-robot replicas???

Re: UTC Regional Updates
To everyone at UTC or knows annything about what happened to day I was wondering if Gael Force Team 126 hung at all today in practice. since I couldn't be there today. But I will be there the next two days.
Thanx, Mike |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
Today was an interesting day. There are alot of interesting robots this year. During one match against Gael Force, we manovered our shimmy to block them. Gael Force then raised its hanging maechinisum and grabed on to our new attachment called wings. It was finally ruled that Gael Force was legally hanging on the bar, since their hook was above the horizonal bar.

Re: UTC Regional Updates
Compared to the NJ regional...ALOT more cappers and alot less hanging...atleast thats what I saw in the practice rounds.

Re: UTC Regional Updates
compared to new jersey...
more 31337 teams and alot more compettion... you can tell people have experience under their belts... if you look in the pit area everyone has complex set-ups and most people are more worried about getting autonomous working than getting their robot working because most peoples robot is working unlike NJ. I can't wait to see the intenseness of this match.... ball cappers definatly seem to be a BIG deal and there is alot of robots that can "multi task" well see if hanging is as important is it was in NJ now that we have ball cappers little ball collectors the score will be brought to a new level |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
A few things i noticed today...
No one effectively caught the ball drop There were alot of cappers, but only a few were working correctly Of those that hang, they seem to have a very good chance at winning *237,716 wink wink nudge nudge* Everyone was dead in the stands The meadows is still a horrible place to wacth a robotics competetion |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
There are many more cappers but many more efficent hangers. There is a promise of even more compition, at least with 237 and 716 and other primary hangers.. There is another SHIMMY BOT. Team 546 can climb and shimmy fast, but have a tendancy to tip. Good luck to them.
UTC teams tend to have a lot of expirence anyway, which is always great compition. As far as the venue goes, the Meadows rocks me, not to mention the wonderful staging, the working field, and the promsie of accurate rankings, the cheaper food.. I feel spoiled. ^.^ Good luck! Remember, if you need any help, mercilessly berate 237 ill we help you! We will! |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
UTC was great.......
The cue-ing(sp?) and whole crew was great, and for those that don't know, we started 20 minutes behind....ended up 20 minutes ahead, and everyone got an extra practice round, if they stayed. Everyone was really nice too. COmpetition looks really good, should be a good challenge, as UTC always is!! RAGE will help, just ask! |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
FIRST ran early!!!!!!
We started about 20 minutes late, and then fell back another 20 minutes. We then kicked it up a notch, and by the end of the practice rounds we were 15 minutes ahead of schedule. That's right, ahead of schedule. Since the CT regional is awesome, we added an extra practice round for the teams who wanted one! Thanks to the teams for listening to everybody and working together. Thanks to the field resetters for being so lightning quick. Thanks to all the staff for keeping things running perfectly smooth, and addressing any problems immediatly. FYI: At one point it was taking us (the feild crew) a minute and a half from the end of one match to the start of the next. That includes unloading and loading bots, resetting the field and getting everything working. AMAZING JOB EVERYONE!! |
Re: UTC Regional Updates
honestly, not to degrade anybody,
I was never a huge fan of utc since it was moved to New Haven in '02. in '01 i think the setup was really cramed to say the least. i think BAE has been the most veiwer and team friendly venue, the way that the seating never has a bad view and the pits flow....UTC at the Meadows, is very hard to get a good seat, and to do work in the pits... so i wouldnt say UTC was good except for the teams that attend and thats it. |
