Yes, there are more pictures, but some maybe embarrassing, too personal, and the "I wish I didn't do that" photos. :yikes:

I'm missing the Social pics, someone else have to post them. (Mike? Mark? where are you)
The comedian was.... :rolleyes:
The Jazz Jam was good
The punk rock band .....(no comment)
The Step Teams were awksome!

BTW- NYC Regional challenges all the other Regionals to a 2004 photo gallery contest!
The most pics posted will be the winner. Simple rule: all pics must be from that regional! (Nats don't count)

I have a few pics from NYC that I can post when I get a chance. I did actually have a chance to take pics between field reset duties!!

Re: Week#4 - NYC FIRST! Regional & Social

The Good - The competition site was located at a very nice arena, and the competition ran pretty smoothly. The volunteers did an excellent job resetting the field. There was a lot of cheering and enthusiasm. I was extremely surprised and excited to see Woody Flowers attending this regional. After all, I consider Woody Flowers to have god-like status, especially at a FIRST event. So yes, Woody Flowers is a god.

The Bad - Sometimes the field would mysteriously drop balls without warning, even when a match has not started. Rumor has it that another team was chanting to our team, "Go back to where ever you came from, or we will shoot you." I was not there to witness this, but they were also the same team that pegged some of us with the candy we passed out towards the end of the regional.

and The Ugly - On Friday morning, some of the organizers of the event did not have match lists printed out, and announced numerous times that they will let everybody in the pit know when the match lists are ready to be given out. Frustrated, "Granny" (Sorry, I do not know her name) the pit announcer yelled, "We will let you guys know when the match lists are ready, do not ask for them again!" A sarcastic member from another team tested her patience by jumping up and down while yelling back at her, "When will the match lists be ready?" She angrily picked up the microphone and screamed, "H377 NO!" (Note: written in l33t for censorship)

The pit erupted with laughter and applause. Too bad it was her last year as a pit announcer for the New York City Regional.

Anymore pictures of me driving in the finals would be nice.

I won't mention any names on who that person was or what team they belonged too but that was extremely hilarious. Just for the simple fact that any team who attends the NYC Regionals gets on her nerves intentionally or not. lol. As said b4 I won't revela name and status howvere will point out that they are known sometimes for dry jokes/ extreme sarcasm and more often then not a good game stratedgy.

Edit://

Pictures Are now up on my site http://firstprojects.tripod.com
Just click on the corresponding Day and it will prompt you to download it.
All files have been Zipped.
Day1 = 1.27 MB
Day2 = 3.67 MB
Day3 = 5.43 MB

Now I know these files are huge for the average 56 K User so If you would like I can email you the pictures to your email address. In Sections however This is open to 56 K users. The people with DSL / Cable or any other High speed internet should be able to D/L all this with in a matter of 5 - 10 Minutes

So if you have 56K and would like to get the pictures in sections let me know. Also I can send individual pictures to you, you just have to email me and / post here / PM / IM me and let me know which ones you want to see.

Till I can figure out an easier way to do this. This will be the going method temporarily.

So far everyone can upload white papers yet I cannot upload Zip files on CD till I get that worked out with Brandon you will have to go to my site. I would do individual pictures but its like 300 somewhat pictures and 1/2 to 3/4 of them are competition

Rich I do not have any pics from the social since I was unable to stay and have fun. And to think I was planning to use that day to introduce myself to T334. Oh well now I gotta reschedule for an earlier time.

Maybe Mark has some Pics. The only ones I do have are scattered matches and as you stated the personal / embarrassing and the I wish I didn't do that pictures.

Hey, did anybody get a copy of that song the judges were singing on Saturday (I think) during the opening ceremonies? It would be nice to get the lyrics. :)

Re: Week#4 - NYC FIRST! Regional & Social

Is it me or was the slide of the lyrics going at a different pace?

Yea, I think they accidently set up a timed power point presentation, which is why it kept on moving forward.

Re: Week#4 - NYC FIRST! Regional & Social

I remember in 2002 the judges sang "If I only had a robot" and it was referenced to Team 522 's Dorothy. Every year the judges come up with a great sounding tune to kickoff the final day of competition

Yeah so any way Rich get the 2004 song so I can email it to the peeps over at 522 headquarters for them to post on the wall.

FIRST JUDGES SONG!
Saturday, March 27, 2004
New York City

(To the melody of “Would you like to swing on a star?”)

Would you like to swing on a bar?
Or throw five-point balls from afar?
Does your robot drive like a car?
Then you’re a winner here at FIRST!

Do you like to talk about torque?
Do you think six weeks is too short?
Is sleep what you can’t afford?
Then you’re a mentor here at FIRST!

Did you paint your whole body pink?
Are purple robes and hats more your thing?
Did you cheer every team that you’ve seen?
Then you’re a booster squad at FIRST!

Is engineering more fun than you thought?
Are you keen to take Bill Gate’s spot?
Do you think Dean and Woodie are HOT?
Then your future starts at FIRST!
