guess segway max price

i was just looking at the prices of the segway and as of right now the highest is 85,000 holy crap that is insane at this rate i think it could hit 100,000 what do you think

Matt Reiland 20-02-2002 19:00

Sounds kinda high

My best guess is that since it is now showing up on TV (saw it on MSNBC) people who want to donate money to a great cause and be in the spot light are funding it at this point. What a perfect way to get attention and also essentially donate money to a great cause.

AdamT 20-02-2002 19:07

With 36 days remaining, I'll say a million dollars. It's already to 85k after a little over a day. Very cool.

Brett 20-02-2002 19:19

Titanium segway goodness... I'll guess $200k

Clark Gilbert 20-02-2002 20:06

Guess........

I'll say 45 0,000 .....:D

(i wish i had a million dollars right now ;) )

Alfred Thompson 20-02-2002 20:52

but are they real bids

I have to wonder if those bids are real. Anyone can create an account and bid and no one checks until the bidding is over.

Teedoff101 20-02-2002 20:55

Who cares? It's a segway. So it has leather. How will that help you control it? You can sit on the leather and move at the same time now can you? But about the price, it'll reach 650K. See ya.

Greg McCoy 20-02-2002 21:02

Really. Doesen't a golf cart do the same thing for one heck of a lot cheaper? You get to sit down too :D

Clark Gilbert 20-02-2002 21:06

But...

But Segways are sooooooo much fun to drive around ;)

D.J. Fluck 20-02-2002 21:09

You don't appriciate the segway until u ride it...plus driving a golf cart would make me feel like an old man...

Brett 20-02-2002 21:13

Aren't all the parts on those titanium as well?

:goes back to reread the auction page:

That and you'll get your segway a year and a half before everyone else (at least).

Teedoff101 20-02-2002 21:13

Segways are completely useless. They aren't that fast and they require you to move your body. THey would be better if you could sit, but you have to stand. Anyways, Dean Kaman has lost all movement of his legs and I'm sure that you don't want that to happen to you? See Ya.

-Teedoff101:D

Clark Gilbert 20-02-2002 21:30

Actually.......

Actually u don't have to move your body much to drive it....like DJ said u have to drive one before you can really appreciate it....its so easier.....alot easier than sitting down....Also they are pretty fast...(again...u cant appreciate it until u ride it):D

Sign up for Amazon yourself and check up on the bidders email addresses. Though at this point theyre all yahoo/hotmail-ish email addresses, for a while the high bidder was from KPCB, and others were from high-tech companies.

Oh, and it just hit 100,000. ;)

AdamT 20-02-2002 21:47

Dude, it's not about buying a Segway, it's about donating money to the FIRST project.

ahecht 20-02-2002 22:54

my guess is $800,000.

Teedoff101 20-02-2002 23:01

it could reach that but only if someone was truly insane. Most likely the bid will reach some high price and then the person won't pay. See ya.

-Teedoff101

AdamT 20-02-2002 23:13

Dude, like it's been said before, I can see someone with a lot of money, or a company buying one. It's a great way to advertise or just donate to a good cause.

Teedoff101 21-02-2002 00:11

I understand, but it is still likely that a single person will make a high bid and will not pay. I wish that someone would pay the bid so F.I.R.S.T. could gain a lot of money and make the teams and competetions better than before. It is however most unlikely unless a mea coroporation pays for the segway and anyways it is not worth 800k for a segway. See Ya.

Wetzel 21-02-2002 02:47

There are people out there, such as Ted Turner, who make more than they can easily spend. Why not spend it on osmething that looks somewhat cool and noone else can have?
I don't think I could spend $2 million a day easily.
$500K will be reached

lunatecs 21-02-2002 11:54

I just looked at amazon.com and one of the Segways are up to $ 100,100 so I think that it will exceed $ 500,000 easily...later :)

kacz100 23-02-2002 23:39

my best guess is that it will be over $1,000,000.00

Joel J 24-02-2002 00:29

750,000

Rob Ribaudo 24-02-2002 15:43

Not only do you get a Segway but you also get to go to Disney World during the Nationals and meet Dean Kamen.(Like that would cost much compared to up it is up to now.) I guess that it will reach about $600,000.

Wetzel 26-02-2002 02:55

I wondered why the second one was so much higher than the #1 Segway, but its gone back and #1 is over $115,000 now...

Joe Ross 08-03-2002 14:00

I'm a pestimist, so I think 150k
