coolest robots

Which robots have stood out in your mind as the coolest so far? (try not to talk about your own team(s), that just sounds corny)

I've only been to NJ and UTC NE, so my experience is somewhat limited, but i guess i'll go first.

126 has one of the coolest combination bots of all time. they can suck balls, cap, and hang with amazing effectiveness. they put up one hell of a fight in the finals at UTC, truly an inspiring machine.

237 may only do one thing, but it is a beautiful thing to behold. the shimmy (as they call it) is truly innovative, and can strike fear into the hearts of their opposition.

though i'm probably a bit biased on this one, i will say that 716 is one of the most versatile hangers out there. they can get on the bar so fast (in fact, i've never seen another team pull up so fast) that they can spend the majority of the match doing what they please.

782's capping strategy was something i hadn't even considered until i saw it in action (they cap the goal from the back side just before hanging). paired with an excellent hanging device (and nifty onboard camera, i think), it is an impressive machine to behold.

there are tons of teams that are also very good that i have not mentioned, but my fingers can only go so fast, and i'm not going to just list team numbers because i might forget one (and make someone unhappy). i also have only seen so many robots in action.

and so i open the floor. please try to keep this thread goodhearted, it was intended to be so.

571 - Paragon's Ball Gathering And Capping Devices were amazing

[EDIT] I forgot to mention our ghetto bot , the "knightmare" of team 195. I think the pvc arms and orange safety gloves strike fear into the hearts of everyone [/EDIT]

Re: coolest robots

33 - That huge box of a ball bot has me. Will it be able to hang?
45 - The arm. But it'll end up being a ball bot/hanger by the end.
569 - Very fast hanger, it seems.
126 - It didn't click until I saw them hang. If only they didn't tip so easily ;)
(571 - Ball pickup mechanism is very effective. If they are able to hang again, then they will be the best.)
60/254 - They should win Quality wherever they go. The machine is just well put together.

33 is still my favorite, and I haven't even seen them in action...

Team 33 has a nice robot I like the way they desgined it to have a large amout of balls at one time.

254 without a doubt (Sorry 60, theirs just looks cooler :P)

[SHAMELESS PLUG]

I like 121's bot...

They can hit the 10 pt, herd, cap, and hang. They also have the quickest and coolest big ball manipulators I've seen. It's also the only bot I've seen that can manipulate two big balls independently (sp?). It tipped a bunch at BAE, but after the installation of a "Wheelie bar" (inspired by Homer Simpson), it has yet to tip. It was interesting how it was particularly targeted by opposing bots during the finals. No one messed with it's partner. They all went after 121...

126, you have an awesome bot! It's too bad we couldn't ally with you at UTC! Talk about match domination!

Re: coolest robots

Of the robots that I've seen so far...

- Team 33 is the best pure ball bot.

- Team 47 is the best all-around robot that I've seen. It can do every aspect of the game VERY WELL(except autonomous - so far). It herds balls well, caps well, and hangs amazingly well.

- By the end of the year, I think team 45 will wind up being one of the highest scoring single robots of the year (what I mean by this, is if they were the only robot on the field left to do whatever they wanted, they would score the most). They herd and cap with the best of them. To me, this is the ultimate high scoring machine - hold a large ball in your gripper while you heard 10 balls, then cap the whold thing at the end for 160 points. Great job, TechnoKats.

dave... go somewhere and don't plug =P

126 GaelForce, 571 (paragon right?), 69 HYPER, 190 WPI.

Re: coolest robots

BTW, I also really like 181's bot. The only problem I have with it is that it's center of gravity is waaaay off when it has a big ball. (And it can't hang) But I like it.

henryBsick 22-03-2004 16:00

Re: coolest robots

From what I have seen 303 is one of the best. They can herd like mad and cap both, or all three if in qualifiers. They play the game till the end because they don't need to hang. Plus they are great alliance partners. Chesapeake, w00t w00t.

Re: coolest robots

hey dude.. dont forget 195.. we scored 115 by ourselves when 236 tipped (argh)

[EDIT]There are no hard feelings towards 236, it just played out that way[/EDIT]
[EDITx2]That had to be one of the best matches.. Techno Ticks and Cyber Knights Vs. Killawatts and BOP (4 highest ranked teams at the time, i think) And oh yeah, 236 did help corral alot of balls, they just tipped when they went to hang.[/EDITx2]

I love one on two matches. We won one I think against 1048 and 16 when 1111 died in our last qualifier (it kept us undefeated). It was a fun one.

BTW this thread is going to fly, so many posts, so quickly. Good ob Solace, nice topic. ;) :)

Also 16 has a nice bot. Most powerful suction capper I have seen yet. They heard with a roller, and hang with swiss cheesed cams. Plus they are fast enough to our three speed on the fly a run for its money.

I was also inpressed with the Chief's bot this year, its well rounded.

Even thought they did not do well at Great Lakes I liked the Team 470's Drive alot, it looked wickid awsome.

Team 469 was also really nice.

Re: coolest robots

Well for the FL bots

best big ball handler: 179 consistently manipulated 2 big balls in each match and was always able to cap their stationary and mobile goals

best small ball gatherer: 1083 was amazing at gathering balls with their omnidrive and their shooter was near perfect every time

best hanger: 233 or 61 both had pretty fast hanging abilities and were almost always hanging.

Re: coolest robots

The coolest robots I have seen in person so far...

571, Paragon - I haven't seen a small ball pickup/delievery this effective since Lebanon in 2002.

173, RAGE - After UTC, I am a believer! They were abolutely lights out hanging, small ball pickup is awsome, and they corrected us when we tipped over! (Only fell 15 points short of winning the round after tipping).

121, Rhode Warriors - Dominating big ball robot, great bowling team.

176, Aces High - Once the drivers got over the learning curve for that arm, it became one very dangerous robot!

69, HYPER - Amazing suction cup design, great at hanging.

Good luck at Nats!

i loved 190's design/autonomous mode
980 had a good bot
60's robot is awesome and their driver is very good at controlling their nasty fast drive system
MMR is in t-minus 3 days...i'm sure i'll have more to post by then

also...898 was cool. simplistic. they struck fear into the hearts of all

my votes for 222 tigertrons, 303's fridge, and 1083's blue and orange thing (driver was AWESOME!) watch out for that one, they spent $60 on each wheel! :yikes: lolz great job you guys

yeah and then they break first day of competition, and we have to use spares.

but on topic, 237, and 716 were great hangers, i liked the speed in which 716 got up and 237's defensive capabilities.

I also thought 571 had an awesome bot(big and little balls), congrats on the UTC win.

I also thougt 177 had a nice ball catcher, i remember seeing that they could normally catch a majority of the balls, from there side or the oponents.

these are just bots i remember from NJ and UTC.

I would have to say 33. Their bot is quite unique. Not many teams concentrated on hearding extremely well as they did. I know our team was hoping we were allied with them at detroit.

Re: coolest robots

this is gonna be a long post, a lotta good bots out there..

peachtree regional

i'm disapointed that there haven't been any peachtree regional bots mentioned yet...i'll have too change that.

343/538-both bots did similar things, and did them well. they could both cap quickly and efficiently. 343 also had a real mean drive train.

1002/1057-our alliance partners, and they were two of the quickest and most dependable hangers there.

1371-thay may be rookies, but they had without a doubt, one of the most effective cappers at peachtree. also, interestingly enough, their robot is painted bright pink, their motto is 'think pink' and as of yet, are completly unaware of the existance of team 233. i smell a duel cooking....

494-probably one of the strongest robots there, in more ways then one. they could hang, cap, and lift other robots off the bar with their arm. their 6 motor drivetrain was insanely powerful, and combined with their step sliders, allowed them to take the 6-inch step like it was nothing

UCF regional

21-the only ball catcher i've seen, and i think with its swerve drive and capping arm, one of the best.

61/233-both very quick up the steps and very quick hangers

945/312/710/311- all designed to do the same things, all do them well, and all do them in a completly different manner. 945 has a beastly drivetrain strong arm. heatwave's arm is as versatile as ever, and is quick to hang. 710's hanging system/drivetrain/step climber is just down right cool. 311 almost always got the ten point ball in auto mode

179-probably the best big ball handler at UCF, and a simple yet speedy drive train too.

1083/180-these two holonomic bots were just downright awesome

1144-they've come a long way in a single year, and have a very effective ball collector

I would have to second RogerR. 494 has built awesome, yet simple, designs for the past two years. We have never been partnered up with them, but maybe in West Michigan in two weeks! I think that the Martians are definitely out of this world! I wish Goodrich the best of luck this year!

I gotta Give 131 CHAOS a shout out......the way they get up the step is truely "cool".

Re: coolest robots

My personal favorite was 1114... their drive train was so cool! It didn't seem to be the most effective way to get up the step, but it looked really neat and worked extremely well. Many thanks to Julian for the explaination!

Re: coolest robots

For machine robustness, I like the 48 machine. Its really solid, and incredibly powerfull. I'm glad we only had to play them once :ahh: . It has a real nice elevator system on their arm, and rises so smoothly and quickly off the upper deck.

190's is pretty cool too. They can manipulate the doubler while hanging.

1241 is just plain cool, since their a rookie team, and came up with such a good ball catcher. I can't wait to see it in Mississauga.

Re: coolest robots

126- is really well at large and small balls and they hang it is very nice
303- also very nice
716- hang very quickly
782- cap and hang well
181- i wonder were they got the idea for there basket :) and they grab the large balls really well

KenWittlief 22-03-2004 18:25

Re: coolest robots

808 was the most impressive hanger I saw at Pittsburg - all they need to do is make a captive hook so they cant get pushed up and off the bar (if they are going to another event Ill bet they are busy working on a captive hook design even as we speak)

they were the top seed.

OneAngryDaisy 22-03-2004 18:25

Re: coolest robots

I can't believe 16's robot has only been mentioned once.. they pretty much won chesapeake as their partner would go straight to the bar. In auton they knocked the small ball off the tee, then herded about 8 balls back, capped their goal, and hung. It was incredible. Two regional championships so far, watch out for the bomb squad.

As far as I've heard, Team 33 can hang, but is going to be over weight with the hook, or something. So far as I've heard is that they are going to try to figure out a way to get it on their robot.

Re: coolest robots

watching at VCU, i would have to say I was most impressed by:

33-it was awesome seeing all those balls just moving around in your bot. Good luck on making it hang!

616- the robot had a really good strategy. they would drag the movable goal over, pick the 2x up, wait for their HP to shoot some balls in, then recap and go hang on the bar. it was overall very effective

435- they could herd balls fairly well and it was pretty cool that you could hang from the ground and go up really fast.

danield710 22-03-2004 18:44

Re: coolest robots

945-probly one of the most efficient robots that did what it was designed to do, at ucf; it capped and hanged flawlessly
1083-best ball herder at ucf along with an amazing human player
179-best capping robot at ucf

Dan Richardson 22-03-2004 18:58

Re: coolest robots

From Pictures I would have to say 254/60 bot is prob. the best built bot I've seen in a while.
1369 had a sweet looking drive too.

But from real experience..

945: is just flat out one of the most effecient bots I've seen in along time.. I mean.. they can cap that goal and hang with some darned powerful robots playing defense in like 30 seconds. They are also quite good at herding those pesky balls... The simplicity of their bot combined with great driving makes them a great bot.

312.. darn cool looking robot.. and really fun to watch hang

1083.. best ball coraler/human player combo I've seen.

233.. most effecient hanger.. I think they can do the whole process ( onto the platform.. setting the arm to hang and pull themselves up ) in like 9 seconds? Thats like unheard of... That was with another bot on their playing a bit of defense

RoteAugen 22-03-2004 18:59

Re: coolest robots

though I hesitate to "toot my own horn" I must admit that 138's 4 wheel ackerman steering is something to behold through its ingenious simplicity. add the 4wl drive with unsurpassed torque and independently controlled wings that herd balls... not to mention the arm that can manipulate the 2x ball and deploy the hanger hook/winch...

I am very proud of Hummer mkII, and i believe it deserves at least a mention.. especially after placing 2nd at the BAE Granite State regional

but trust me, I by no means think our bot is the coolest. from what I hear, that belongs to 33!

1241- awesome rookie, best rookie ever!

Re: coolest robots

After attending regionals for the past three weeks, here are the robots which have most impressed me.

Team 48 -- The best robot that attended the Pittsburgh regional. They mounted the decks like they weren't even there. Their drive train was so powerful they pushed robots around with ease. Add an incredibly quick hanging arm, and you've got an amazing package. I can't wait to work with them again at the Canadian Regional.

Team 69 -- You know what they say about robots with big wheels, don't you?... Yeah, they get on the deck quickly.

Team 229 -- For a second here, lets ignore their strong and massive arm. Their drivetrain is simply awesome. It's powered by the CIM and has a two speed gearbox. They didn't really get to show off the power until the elimination rounds in Long Island, but man did they show it off. Every match they were in, we just sent them after on of our opponents. They would engage the opponent and lock them up for the entire match. It was a defensive masterpiece. Our alliance (311, 1114, 229) never lost a match that 229 played in. Just awesome.

jjdebner 22-03-2004 20:00

Re: coolest robots

one team i know hasn't got mentioned yet but i think deserves to is team 25. I saw them at the New jersey regional. Their bot may not have performed exactly perfect. But their arm and arm control was INSANE also their SIMPLE transmissions with locking breaks were amazing. Wish they had better luck. I loved they bot though.

Combat Chuck 22-03-2004 20:08

Re: coolest robots

Peachtree Regional

494: Their robot was crazy. They'd score like 160 points by themselves almost.

34: I have to thank our partners in the finals for having a really strong robot that could hang well.

BetsyTheMuffin 22-03-2004 20:19

Re: coolest robots

Based on the Chesapeake Regional:

Oh, I definitely second 16. They were our alliance partners, and while both 1405 and our team had good 'bots, 16 was special. Their cap system was one of the best pieces of engineering I've seen on a FIRST robot, and while the cam system they used to climb the platform was a bit slow, it was amazingly cool to watch. We couldn't have won without them, and I'm sure they deserved the regional Chairman's too.

25's arm, and the way it auto-locked, was beautiful.

1083 built the drive train my team wanted to build. The difference is, they had the funding to buy the wheels and the actual machine skillz to build it properly. Their robot was so amazingly agile...

1403's robot was kind of ghetto-looking, lots of wood and styrofoam, but that disguised the fact that it was the most solid "shopping cart" robot at Annapolis. Their auton mode programming was amazing, especially for a rookie team that was run by its students & not its engineers...

Too bad the PeachTree Regional Webcast was not working. I would have liked to see how well Team 1371 mocked our team... just kidding. I guess we are going to add a new motto, "Team 233: Original PINK" or something similar to that affect. Does anybody know if they will be at Nationals? I cannot find a picture of their team, I want to see which robot is brighter. ;) We might have a friendly showdown. :D

We are trying to target 10 seconds to get us to hang. It just depends on how long the robot goes into a seizure whenever we get up on the platform. It looks awful getting up there but it works.

---------------

Team #21 (ComBBAT) has so much potential, if it was not for their device that dispenses their balls.

Team #79 (The Navigators (KRUNCH)) also has a lot of potential, if they can fix that arm to get them hanging. Right now, I would give them the "Best in your face" Robot Award. They do an awesome job giving teams a difficult time to do their stuff.

I wish both of them the best of luck in fixing their robots; preferably before Nationals. :)

Re: coolest robots

It seems everyone has been rating a robot's coolness factor by its effectivenes in some or all aspects of the game. How about a robot that's just plain coll? My vote goes to team 79, the Navigators, and their robot, Capt. Krunch. With its omnidirectional steering ability and high speed (up to 15 ft/sec), just watching Capt. Krunch move was a thrill. I mean this bot was just plain WICKED fast. And if you want POWER, it could win just about any pushing match.

What time is it? KRUNCH TIME!

Disclaimer: To anyone on team 79, I did not mean to imply that your robot was ineffecient, I just wanted to stress certain aspects. You guys rock, and l look forward to seeing Capt. Krunch at Nationals in Ga.

33- great small ball collector
69- really efficient hanger, great capping method (suction cup), really fast
93- awesome ball catching robot
131- great way to get up the step
157- sweet drive and great way to hang, also the working autonomous is awesome
190- coolest robot I have ever seen
229- i dont know, I just really like the bot
1073- really fast, really good at herding balls. Great example of a robot that does one thing well

Re: coolest robots

when we first saw team 1114's bot (General Motors of Canada St. Catharines Engine & Governor Simcoe Secondary School) our whole team stood there with our mouths open

and someone finally said "did you SEE THAT" did you see what it just did?

the bot has crab steering, and to get up on the platform it lifts the frame with pnuematics, slides over onto it, then lifts its wheels

very impressive - and BTW they were also chosen by 211 to be alliance parteners with us at pittsburg, and we ended up being finalists.

Re: coolest robots

233: The coolest robot I've seen thus far has got to be Roccobot, Team 233: THINK PINK's robot. It's a very efficient hanger and not to mention it's very very slick looking. Awesome aliance partners. ;)

267: Another team that I thought was worth point out was Team 267 The Demolition Squad. They had a wicked vaccum suction system for the 2x ball. I wish it would've worked better. It was a really really cool design.

179: Wow.. This team was amazing. Great at capping, and had really awesome Autonomous modes. I wish I would have got to see their haning system work at UCF though.

1083: The best ball handler I've seen so far. It works beautifly with an awesome holomonic drive system.

1144: VERY Energetic team with a very cool robot, that can cap, and gather the small balls. They were awesome to watch and great alliance partners.

1402: Awesome rookie team that could hang from the ground. Their hanging system worked often, and was really cool.

311: Awesome robot that could cap and hang very well. Just an amazing robot.

945: Number one seed at UCF for a reason. They were very very good at playing this years game. Very tough capping/hanging robot.

180: When their arm was working it was one of the coolest looking arms out there. It had a sleek holomonic drive system like 1083's. I was pretty impressed.

21: So cool! I can't wait to see if their ball dispensing system works better at Palmetto. They catch every ball that falls. Very nice design.

Outside of UCF:
343: Wow our sister team sure put out another great robot. With an exelent capping system. And a pretty good hanging mechanism. Very nice looking, elegent, and has a strong drive system to boot. Oh yeah an you can't go wrong with pogo sticks. Lol :D

So many good robots out there. I can't wait to see more at the next regional!

I'd definitely have to agree with 16 being outstanding. In StL we were partnered with them for our first match, and then against them for two more matches. Each match they did something different, based on their partners strengths, because they could do it all, and do it all well. And their finals in StL had everyone in the arena on the edge of their seats.

I was only at BAE but the robots that come to mind there are

69-awesome at big balls and gettin on top
501- sweet hook design
190- incredible when on the bar
131-really neat lift system for getting on the ramp
229-really good with big balls
134-(*cough biased*) muscle and awesome at hangin(9 for 11), good autonomous

I also watched the finals for UCF
233 was amazing
and VCU
33 incredible ball pickup design

I was only able to catch a few of the matches at Peachtree because i was occupied with the Pit Admin desk...

Functionality: Tie between 343 and 1002...i liked 343's hook and winch design
Originality: Who can forget my old team 807, with that big green head that topped their robot?

I think the #1 alliance in FL was the one to beat.
945 - can do everything very strong
61 - hangs and blocks the top platform well also very strong
386 - fast and very strong good for containing robots and gathering balls

Re: coolest robots

A lot of people have mentioned team 33...for their ball collection, which is very nice by the way. But no one has yet to mention their SWEET gearboxes. They have a 4-speed automatic gearbox weighing only 2 lbs. It is very simplistic as well. Even though there are some other nice drives and such as some good holonomic drives out there, I like the quality and effectiveness of 33's gearbox. It is fast and powerful and shifts smoothly without any notice in power loss.

Based on what I have seen/heard I also like 190's design. Very original and a great way to control the game.

Re: coolest robots

Technokats (45) had me hooked from the first picture. That arm is beautiful, AND it sucks up balls!

Chief Delphi (47) has one awesome robot. Their arm is the perfect length, and it is controllable. AND it hangs faster than any I've seen.

HOT (67) has an awesome bot, long wedge, drives great, and holds the big ball like it's nothing.

Team 388 had an awesome robot, and I think it was the best looking bot in Virginia. I can't believe such a great team was still around for our second pick!

As for us hanging....we need to get it to drive first, but we're close!

Here's my idea of a really awesome alliance:

Team 237 for the best bar defense EVER
Team 126 for big and small ballage and hanging
Team 121 for big and small ballage and hanging

Oh yeah!!! In the 61st match at the Midwest Regional we scored 125 points when our alliance partner 1163 couldnt make it, although their HP was there to help (GO MIKE!!!) :p I'm just kidding, great job by your team for being able to score that many points alone. I just want to wish good luck to all the teams that will be at a Regional this weekend, maybe you will be able to score even HIGHER by yourself!!! And for those teams that have no Regional to go to this weekend, I hope we see you at Nationals!!!!!!!! :D

340
67
1126

Undefeated in eliminations. Also got the highest score in nation - 220 It worked great because 340 (alliance caption) let us (67) in every match because we could handle the large balls very well, and can hang. Our parter would hang, and we'd cap the goal and try to hang. It was a great alliance.

Thanks 340 and 1126! We functioned as a perfect team.

At the Buckeye Regional i liked team 340's bot. They went un-defeated and their bot was very practical. Great job guys!! I also enjoyed team 1317's bot their bot went under the ball shoot during autonomous and caught all of the balls that where released. finally team 211's bot theirs went next to the bar during autonomous and raised its arm and as soon as the human controll mode started the grabed the bar from the side and pulled them selves up :D

I don't remember the team number, but they went by the PVC Pirates this year. I saw the robot at the BAE Manchester Regional this season. Their robot was build out of PVC and it looked like a pirate ship. They even had a Jolly Rober flag on the top. When they opened the ship up, they could catch all the balls that dropped (unless they were pushed away from the dropper by a team with a strong motor system--cough cough 134 cough cough :D ) They looked really cool and they were very well themes--the whole team was dressed like pirates and they all had eyepatches and pirate's gold to give out too.

I think 16 is an amazing capper.
224 has an amazing drive, the 12.5's and three 6" to climb in the back. Wicked fast too. Very cool bot.
There are many others, I saw only a few.

I loved 279's bot. I love when it folds up to the top of the bar like a clam shell and spreads it's arms out to keep others from hanging.
Way cool!

Re: coolest robots

173, 71, 66 in 2002

173 = killer ball control
66 = undeniable goal control
173 + 66 = Arbitrarily large score

71 = All your goal are belong to Beatty
66 = stop Beatty from turning

71 + 66 = good times

Basically, our robot was the perfect compliment to theirs. Whichever robot needed to go out, we could back them up.

The west coast gets no love... I havent heard hardly anyone not from out here mention our bots, with the exception of 254 and 60. Watch SVR this weekend, and see what we're all about

P.S. My offer of 6 pack of Dew to anyone who wants to bet me the high score of 220 will be beaten at SVR is still standing!

Oh my gosh there are so many great robots, i loved 279's robot, it was so cool to see it hang. And there was the big "walking" robot at the buckeye regionals that was cool to see it move. When I saw 67 in action, I just felt "duh!" As if there was any more perfect way to play this years game, I don't know what it is.

Knowing we couldn't beat them, we joined them. It was beautiful.

And I can't wait until next year, when I can tell the students, "Now think about how 67 designed their bot last year. How would HOT do this?"

There was a reason we let you guys play in every match. OFFENSE! You guys are fast, powerful, you can score, & hang. In the 220pt match, to watch your driver cap the mobile goal (nice pat down), drive across the field, steal the cap off the other mobile goal, cap our stationary goal, & still have time to drive over & hang all in 1:15… Awesome.

Well, 60 ALMOST had it in Denver. We were consistently scoring 200 point matches, and one match that scored 180 WOULD have been a 230 had Truck Town been able to winch themselves up.

I can't wait for San Jose. I hope the Poofs do it. Their drivers are awesome, and I might be a little biased, but the bot is a beast.

Other bots I love: 980, 878 & 68 (made great alliance partners). I haven't seen too many at competition though. Been trapped in the pits.

Hang off the side, wedge shape, great big ball controls, reliable autonomous mode. Fantastic all around.

My list of coolest robots:

980-Very realiable everything! The cap unbelieveable, hang consistantly and have the best autonomous ive ever seen

599- Very fast, Very Scary Autonomous!

974-My basic design for the past 2 years so i love it!!! :yikes: VIVA LA SAILFISH! :yikes:

THAT is ingenuity!
Not to mention environmentslly friendly!
Reduce, Reuse, Recyle!

I would have to say that there are to many teams out there that are freakin awesome like 386, 61, 1120, 254/60, and to many more to list. Thanks for being very competitive even if it did involve almost messin up our robot. "it's a good adreniline rush" let's have fun at nationals

Re: coolest robots

1272 had one of the most effiecient bots I've ever seen out of a rookie. Kinda like Panther robotics last year cept' meaner. Of all the teams at St. Louis they gave us the biggest worry. (They were 1-1-1 against us(967), baxter(16), and 567 in the finals.) Very cool purple and green bot with a REALLY REALLY good driver.

UnStumpable237 03-04-2004 18:20

Re: coolest robots

I definitely think that one robot that will do really well at nationals because of their awesome design and strategy is team 303. Their robot, allied with 237 and 56 in NJ brought the victory. Without them, we would have been eliminated for sure. Their ball collection and ball capping systems were fantastic. That robot was the coolest!
Other teams with cool robots:

126- Gael Force- Your hanging mechanism struck fear into the hearts of us on 237 during the UTC competition.

716- The Who'sCTeks have a really good hanging robot. We were considering picking you at NJ for your fantastic ability to get up on the bar quickly and accurately every time.

I'm sorry that I can't list all the other bots that I liked, but there were so many! See all you guys at Nationals! :)

Yeah I'd have to agree with this. The robot looked good just sittin in the pits. I also liked 67's (the flames around the bottom were really cool) and I thought 48's also looked good. 980 had one of the best wiring jobs I saw at nationals, and me being an electrical guy, it gave me some ideas for improvement for next year, not only for function, but neatness.

I think that our robot the Fridge is one of the coolest robot. Not only the sizing box but the name take it "The Fridge" can it get any cooler  .
