HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
To all you highschool seniors/ college seniors out there:
Well I'm guessing most of you have your college/ grad school applications already sent in, and probably have heard back from a few. So where are you going next year, and for what major? I'm going to UMAINE (Orono) for mechanical engineering PS: If anyone else is going to UMAINE Orono please email me at FOLEYMAN327@aol.com |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Well I'm off to join the navy. You'd be supprised at how many people are against it though... But they can all eat my shorts for all I care.:P

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
joining the US Air Force sometime in the fall. something about going to lackland in texas in the summer for basic that just doesnt appeal to me. i will get some college credits there, and after i get out, or during it, depending upon the situation, i will go for my college degree, probably computer engineering or electrical engineering, and i might get one and work for the other later in life.
only regret about the USAF is that i might not be able to come back as analumni for my team, they are a sorry bunch of people, but they grow on you and i know i will miss it... you know, i never realized what first did for me till i am about to lose it. hopefully i can rejoin later, but first years, rookies, make sure you make the most of your time, because you think its so far away now, but it goes quickly. cherish what you have and you should never have to look back in shame.... |

So far I've been accepted by UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State University, WPI, and Clarkson.
Rejected by UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UCLA, UC Davis, and Cal Poly. Waiting to hear from Stanford, University of the Pacific, Santa Clara University, and UC Berkeley. Cory |

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
So, heard back from everywhere but Berkeley (which posts online tonight)
accepted to University of the Pacific, rejected by Stanford, waitlisted by Santa Clara. Anyone actually know where theyre going? Most of us just have lists of where we've been accepted/rejected. Cory |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'm going to UC Berkeley!
Hooray! |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Accepted by UW (Univ. of Wash.), USC, USD, UC Davis, Santa Clara.
Waiting on: Stanford Leaning towards (right now) USC or Santa Clara. Possible Double Major: Business & Engineering <edit> Waitlisted at Stanford </edit> |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Accepted to WPI, RPI, and BU, with merit scholarships at WPI and BU.
Seeing as I've been, well, hunted down at two regionals by current WPI students, I'm not sure if I have any say in where I go anymore :-p. Regardless of where I go, probably majoring in some sort of Computer/Electrical Engineering. |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?

And you better get used to Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), not the other way around if you are gonna be at WPI. (Learn those acronyms early! We've prolly got at least 200 of em!) |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?

:-p Yeah, at Philly it was kind of random, cause I didn't see them till they came up to me, at least at SBPLI I saw you guys wandering around all day so I wasn't surprised when you hunted me down. As for acronyms, well, English isn't my thing, so names don't mean much to me, as long as I learn what I want to learn ;-). |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'll be going to either one of five schools Oakland University, EMU, Ryerson, or UDM for Architecture. Lawrence Tech for Architectural Imaging. I'd prefer to go to Lawrence Tech though.
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'm going to UC Berkeley for EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science).
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'm interested in knowing if anyone is going to Purdue or has friends that are. It'd be neat to meet a few potential advisors for next year.
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'm going to the University of Delaware for Chemical Engineering. Feels good to have finally made the decision!
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'm going to USC (The University of Southern California) to study ISE (Industrial and Systems Engineering)
Any other current or future USC students out there in CD land? PM me... |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Im going to Northeastern. I will probably go for electrical engineering or computer engineering. If you hear on the local news that half the power is out in Boston then most likely it was me.
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I am going to Purdue West Lafayette for Aerospace Engineering.
Oh yes, I alone am holding up the Purdue contingent! :D (Only for now I hope) |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I have about a week left to decide, and I'm still not sure of where I'm gonna end up... UFlorida, UMiami, Tulane, Georgia Tech, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins and Olin.
Advice anyone? I need to postmark everything on May 1st... EEP! |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I plan to go to Bloomsberg University to major in Early childhood education and elementary education. I also plan to come back and help out my team mates.

::cough::USF::cough:: we need all the help we can get, not many people here have experience in FIRST... in addition, our college of engineering is second only to UF |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Accepted to NCSU (North Carolina State), University of South Carolina, and Tulane. I was planning on going to NC State since I receive a tuition waiver for graduating but I applied to some other schools just for the heck of it. Being accepted to college since November is a bad thing though (especially when its your first choice school). So I'll be @ NC State next year majoring in Mechanical Engineering. If anyone else is going to be at State next year drop me an email at bradshawaa@ncssm.edu . You are welcome to come mentor on my team (Team 900) which is only a short drive away.

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I think i'll probably end up at San Fracisco State university. I've never been there, but i hear it's really nice and there's lots of stuff to do in the city. Still waitin to hear from a few other colleges.

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
There is more than just a rumor. My college and career counselor at school said that in one year they will eliminate the engineering program. Two days ago they cut quite a few other programs just to keep engineering for another year.
Advice to anyone wanting to go to school in CA: Avoid state schools if at all possible. UC's arent as bad as state schools, but the budget situation is only going to get worse. I've pretty much narrowed my choices to University of the Pacific and WPI. If it weren't for all the budget problems, I might look a lot more favorably upon San Jose State University. Cory |

I'll be headed off to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering come fall. I really encourage any rising senior to check it out - if you like build season and think that's how you'd like your classes to work, Olin's for you. (www.olin.edu) |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Quote:
:ahh: You were accepted to Olin, and you are unsure of where you want to go!?!?! Oh, my! Without a doubt..... Olin! The experience within itself would be more than amazing, and if they don't have something that you specifically want to study, take it up in graduate school. Seriously.... it would be a wonderful opportunity, I missed a chance at going just slightly. Best wishes to you, wherever you choose. |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
OCC for CET, may switch to EE or ME if I dont like it
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I heard somewhere that Olin is not an accredited university.
Other than that, it sounds great! Who can turn down full tuition :D Cory |

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
And if you go to Olin, you get to use Babson's campus a ton (since Olin's in our backyard)...and I personally think it's pretty nice.
Furthermore, it'd be nice to see some CD-ers around :) |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Well i'm down to 5 days to chose between Lehigh University and WPI. Both are excellent schools and each has pros and cons in different areas. It's a tough choice.
I'm probably going to go for Biomedical engineering, but potentially may switch to ECE with either a minor or a dual major in business/economics. |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
yeah... i would be a high school senior right now, but the university of washington gave me a two-year early entrance. so right now i'm a college sophomore, and next year.... I'll still be at the UW. HUSKIES RULE.
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
just sent my admissions reply yesterday to some school around boston...
Anyone know of any teams in the Cambridge/MIT area that will be in need of an EE undergrad next year? |

I tell you what...my family is split. My mom actually graduated from a nursing school, but took a lot of classes at Lehigh and my dad actually graduated about 20 miles down the road at Lafayette... If you are looking for a good wrestling program or like good college wrestling, Lehigh is for you :p |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
University of Virginia, computer science major (plus math plus spanish).
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Cal Poly Pomona, Mechanical Engineering

Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
I'll be driving a long six hours north to RIT (Rochester Inst. of Technology).. probably in some branch of engineering, or criminal justice if my roommate is able to brainwash me..
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Wow, RIT, My cousin is going there now and paying $40k/year in-state.
As for me, I'm one of the weird people that is involved in FIRST, but not going to an engineering school. I'll be going to Georgia State majoring in Accounting (possible a dual-diploma @ GA Tech in Management), then going for my PhD in law at Georgia State. |
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
Purdue University West Lafayette, I *think* a Management major but I eventually want to double with German. I do plan on mentoring 461.
|
Re: HS and college seniors: where are you going next year?
