Name that Tune

Here's a good game... Name that Tune!

Just post a snippet of the lyrics, and then the next person has to continue the lyrics and name the song if they can.. then they write down the snippet of the lyrics that they want named.

Here, I'll start- this is a toughy..

"Coo-Coo-Ca-Choo...."

Good Luck with that one :p

Okay kids -- boredom brings you these lyrics from way before your time.

One of these mornings,
You're gonna rise up singing,
Spread your wings and you'll take the sky
Until that morning there's nothing that can harm you,
with mommy and daddy standing by.

A big yay for people who know this song without looking up its lyrics.

Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell (most popular version, I believe), also done by Bob Dylan, The Neighborhood, Counting Crows, and Paolo Santos, and probably some more.

And since I was just listening to this one:

She was a-beautiful boy

Holy jeez, Heidi, could that be Underworld? I just had junior high brought back to me in a huge flash. I think the song was... uh... 'Born Slippy' or slippery or something to that effect. Wow...

Here's one from around the same time period:

"You're such a charming, handsome man,
Now I think I finally understand,
Is it in your genes?, I don't know,
But I'll soon find out, that's for sure,
Why did you play me this way?
Well I guess what you say is true -
I could never be the right kind of girl for you..."

Self Deception
by Lacuna Coil

(Ok.. i had to cheat on that one.. :o )

Here's a good one!

Living easy, lovin' free
Season ticket, on a one - way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too

highway to hell, by AC/DC

ok, how 'bout:

"He use to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
And sit beneath the trees by the railroad track
Oh, the engineers used to see him sitting in the shade
Playing to the rhythm that the drivers made
People passing by would stop and say
Oh my that little country boy could play
"

Johnny B. Goode, of course.

now think of all the years you tried to
find someone to satisfy you
i might be as crazy as they say...
if i'm crazy, then it's true
that it's all because of you
and you wouldn't want me any other way...

I took this girl out last night and we left around twelve.
We walked along lonely streets and got to know ourselves.
I like to read, she likes to write.
She likes to sleep, and I love to stay up all night.
My friends say I'm crazy and I agree,
But that's okay cause that's the way I like to be.

whoever gets this deserves a gold star AND snaps

They All Laughed by Frank Sinatra?

How about:

"On your way to the best years of your life
Everyone's banging on their gongs
The sooner you leave the sooner you're home
Back in Massachusetts"

^Awsome band and an awsome song^

The song is Homecoming King and I think that the band that sings it is Guster

Here's one:

my heart is on my sleeve
wear it like a bruise or blackeye
my badge, my witness
that means that i believed
every single lie you said

Chicago is so 2 yrs Ago - Fall out Boy

you said young man don’t rely on a sword
cause your words will outlive even time
i’ve counted my blessings
the rest are for you
please listen close for a while

.....(chorus would give it away too easily)....

i made the mistake once of fearing an end
is this life that we live just the world’s accident
not a chance so i move on with a smile
are you surprised where you are

"James" by... yet again... OAR

Here's some lyrics from one of my favorite songs :)
"Get struck by lightning,
Who here would feel it?
Who here could heal it?
Who here would try?"

"I think I like you,
but you like this whole room"...

..."I'm jing-a-lingin from here to the ceiling
Inside I'm feeling
so fresh and so clean"

(It's all from one song)

Re: Name that Tune

woot i finally got one, its Gavin DeGraw--Chemical Party

heres a great song from one of my favorit bands

"And they knew all the lyrics by heart, now,
And they play in the perfect key,
And their tombstones are silhouetted,
And the band I can barely see,
Well our spirit fades, hard and cheated,
When the funeral's over, I can't leave it,
Everyone's going home, I'm defeated."

Re: Name that Tune

Ghost Band, by Rancid? (hehe thanks jake lol)

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Chorus:
Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Re: Name that Tune

Rascal Flatts - Bless The Broken Road..... good choice

Crashed on the floor when I moved in
This little bungalow with some strange new friends
Stay up too late, and I'm too thin
We promise each other it's til the end
Now we're spinning empty bottles
It's the five of us
With pretty eyed boys girls die to trust
I can't resist the day
No, I can't resist the day

Jenny screams out and it's no pose
'Cause when she dances she goes and goes
Beer through the nose on an inside joke
I'm so excited, I haven't spoken
And she's so pretty, and she's so sure
Maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her
The summer's all in bloom
The summer is ending soon

Re: Name that Tune

Vanessa Carlton - White Houses

I'm not looking for a lover
all lovers are liars
I'd never lie to you

you say you want to get even?
you want to get your bad man good?

the worst is over...

A Gentleman Caller by Cursive?

How about:

Wh the hell we waitin in line?
A billion cars in front ans be hind
We're going the way of the dinosaurs,
And they'll make petrol out of us next time.
But everything would be alright,
If this coffin that I'm in was a kite,
I'd sail on hoe to my TV set,
I'm glad Sopranos are on Sunday night.

We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel.

"Midnight and I'm a-waitin' on the 12:05,
hoping it'll take me just a little further down the line.
Moonlight, you're just a heartache in disguise,
won't you keep my heart from breakin'
if it's only for a very short time?"

Re: Name that Tune

Queen of Hearts by Juice Newton (boy was that played a lot in the 80s).

"Just say a word and the boys will be right there:
With claws at your back to send a chill through the night air.
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder?
Thunder and lightning couldn’t be bolder."

'Bungle in the Jungle' by Jethro Tull

My turn:
Rough neck so go check the law and abide
Watch your step with flex and get a hold in your side
Swallow your pride, don't let your lip react,
You don't wanna see my hand where my hip be at.

Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band (at least they made the song rather famous)

No, not Jaded - right band, wrong album.
The first one was Hangman Jury; the second, Angel.
