I see no reason why they wouldn't stick with the same system. It makes sure there is an even mix of vetran teams and younger teams throuh the different divisions and ensures that the teams are random. The past system was also very easy to impliment.

Well there are at least 11 regional winners who weren't listed as comming. If they come up with the cash they cetainly will. Are we talking about over 300 teams this year?

Ed is right. Here are all the teams that just became eligible this weekend due to winning or charimans or Inspiration or Rookie All Star:

Canadian: 639, 1112, 1305
Lone Star: 57
Palmetto: 281, 11, 122, 1398
West Michigan: 1243, 141, 1024, 1272
Silicon Valley: 971, 852 (plus 3 more potential - they have not yet posted awards)

Congratulations to these teams (hope I didn't miss anyone) - come join us in Atlanta!

The sad part is not every team can afford to go to the championship even when they earn the right to go.
Sometimes life is so cruel and unfair. :(

Re: Divisions at Championship?

Last week in Philly, we spoke to the FIRST rep and asked when the division list would be released. His response was that it won't be released until after the last regionals, because they want to make sure that the teams in the top aliances from each regional were split up. This leads me to belive that they aren't just using the 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 system again, at least not in its raw form.

Personally, I'm not sure that I like the fact that teams which have proven that they work well together are being split up, but that is what FIRST has decided to do.

Good teams work well with any team.
67 scored the top score in the nation with Webster Sparx and scored the top score of the qualifyers with us. I don't think they could win a match on their own but they would be a tough out.
Many of the teams at the championships are able to adjust. That's how they got there in the first place.

I know that 852, one of the teams that qualified at SVR, will not be going to Nationals. They can't afford it. At least that's what they told us.

The proposed division 2 is awsome.

i know 759 isnt going even though the won the NYC regional

Team #759 is all the way from the UK. They would need to gather several sponsors (or money, whatever comes first) in a short amount of time if they are to go.

Yeah it is easy to implement but it can leave a lot of teams together in the same division they were in last year. There will be lots of change but you could gurantee more teams were broken apart by changing the pattern.

That is another thing. Last year in Houston we had a very very good robot, but 5 of our alliances did not show up, and didn't even send a Human Player. The other matches our alliances were disabled for some odd reason. So my point is this you cannot depend on your alliance to win you a championship. Maybe it was just bad luck, i hope it was just bad luck, and i hope we have rid ourselves of this bad luck.

Even dead robots can do something. But that's just my opinion. Any who if the championship continues with it's two year pattern, the division we are in should win the whole thing. Really it is quite freaky but we have been in the winning division for our whole two years of existence. Not sure of any other team with that pattern. Being good with ANY team is how you win period. Look at 111 last year or 16 (any year), they consistently win with any team they are with. I've only been driving for 3 years but that is my two cents.

Well at least playing good but then playing with good teams when you have an off match. I've seen both those teams do that. And most everyone will have at least one bad match. Most likely more. If your with a good team when these matches come around, then you're golden.

Re: Divisions at Championship?

Yeah that is true but beating a top 5 team with an alliance partner that's ranked like 10th and you and your partner are like 27th and 62nd then THAT is golden.
