Selections for Fantasy FIRST

What teams do you think will be a hot commodity?
Who will be under rated?
Discuss it all here...

Anyone read through JVN's rating sheet?
i don't know about you, but it's not even close to what I plan on picking in. Ther are many good teams, I think, low on that list.
Yet another reason I think Ed, and JVN have it rigged. :D

Since this thread is much shorter, and at the beginning, can you post how points are scored/winners are determined. Is record or match points worth more?

Does anyone have average match points from all the regionals before buckeye? If you look on the FIRST site, everything after buckeye has a more comprehensive standings list, does anyone have the smae thing for the rest of the regionals?

Jeff,
I explicitly mentioned that I would NOT be picking based on that sheet. Heck, I even mentioned the reasons why I wasn't. HECK, I even told everyone exactly how I was picking. What more do you people want from me? ;)

I included it, more as a resource for the "3rd rounder" when your options are Team A (who you've never heard of) and Team B (who is from a state you've never heard of). This sheet is meant to show you that Team A has won 1/4 of their matches played, while Team B has only won 7/32 of their matches.

Everyone knows who they want their #1 choice to be.
Everyone has some idea who they want their #2 choice to be.
But do you have any idea who you'd pick after (at least) 184 other picks have occurred?

Yes folks... that is the hell that is the 3rd round of this draft.

Remember Jeff,
Statistics tell whatever lies you want them to... but JVN and Koko Ed never would. :D

Stats only tell part of the story. If a team gets stuck with a poor allaince partner, gets knocked over, breaks down or are disabled that effercts thier score.
You will have to do a little more legwork to get to the bottom of who is really good and who is merely adequate.
Round 3 is what will really make or break an allince.

That's true, because then you get to the lowest third of the teams at nationals, as far as public opinion goes. There might be a few dark horses, but it could definitely bog an alliance down.

When do we decide who gets to pick first, second, third, etc.? And how will it be decided?

So, are people going to take into account what teams are in what division, or are you going to pick the best teams regardless of the division?

I haven't decided yet.

Re: Selections for Fantasy FIRST

I'd say, the divsion matters a little bit, but not as much as the team's overall performance.

So when's the draft?

Re: Selections for Fantasy FIRST

i think personally that spreading the board would be a good idea...the best teams put in the hardest division can have their win count lower....despite their being a better bot....its all about the seed winnings right? so how far they get overall doesnt really matter....maybe im wrong but thats what the scoring system was when i last looked....so teams that are better with a good alliance partner might not be a good pick
