Archimedes is going to rock... I know of at least 10 teams off hand that I know of that make great robots every year and will be a tough division to compete with. I predict that Archimedes will take the National Championship this year!!
There are just so many great teams here..
Regional Winners, Regional Chairman's Award winners.. and the list goes on!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS IN ARCHIMEDES!!!
Here's to a great Championship event!!!

On behalf of 188, we'd like to wish everyone in Archimedes luck. Hopefully it can bring home the Championship, as it does hold a fair bit of strong teams, which I personally have my eye on. May the best team win!

Allow me to pimp our robot. At the risk of sounding too egotistic, we are a finals choice for sure, assuming we don't pick and lead an alliance again. :) I think this is an excellent place for us to show off:

Yeah with the team rundown in this division, it could go to anybody! I think this will be the most exciting championship event ive been to (since divisions have been around)

No doubt this is going to be crazy, 13 champions countless finalists, and with the close games that have been happening our division could go to anyone... only 1 week left guys ... can you feel the excitement ?

Re: Yay for Archie! (Archimedes Thread)

As i have said though they have been left off the list, the circuit runners (1002) won the peachtree regional with us (1369)

just wondering but does anyone know if there wil be a webcast of our (archie?) division ?

Jessica Boucher 07-04-2004 01:33

Re: Yay for Archie! (Archimedes Thread)

No clue about the webcast....but just so you know, my old team has been assigned to Archimedes a couple of times now, and I've been calling it "Archie" ever since that first year the other fields were around.

But to me, "Archie" is pronounced Arch-ie (as in architecture), instead of Ar-chie, the comic book character.

There will be no webcast by NASA. However individual teams like 108 or 230 might be up for the challenge to provide one.

Yes there will, NASA TV on cable or satellite is not broadcasting the feed, but it will be webcast off http://robotics.nasa.gov

Looking at the list, archimedes looks like it's going to be a very tough division to win. It'll be great playing against some of the best :)

Speaking of playing against the best, I suggest you get to know the good people of Team 60. They have an outstanding robot and they are outstanding people.

I am very afraid of the possible alliances coming out of Archimedes.

60, 45, and 33. Any combination of those 3 teams out on the field could easily score 250 and above every match.

You're telling me. I have been sitting here wondering how anyone could have let this happen. Imagine if 45, 60, 71 or 111 seed 1st and pick another one? What would you do against an alliance of 60 and 45, or 71 and 111? Nothing that's what you'd do. I can easily see 250+ points coming out of this division

4 of my top 5 picks to win nats ended up in the same division! (#1 being 254)

J Flex 188 07-04-2004 19:02

Re: Yay for Archie! (Archimedes Thread)

the fact that there are so many strong teams in this division finally discounts the old super alliance functions of 1 picking 2 and 3 picking 4 etc, im not saying this wont happen at all, but the results that occur from it wont be so insane anymore. 1 most likely cannot steamroll over 8 etc etc.

And just forget about it if 521 was the 3rd alliance choice!!!! :D

Dude I am I sop pysched since having read the division list as of whose in it !!!!! I mean 15 regional champions and of those over half are pairs from regionals!!!!! thsi is going to be an absolut intense competition. I would much rather play and lose in this division playoff then win in a push over. I LOOOOOVE the challenge and you can only learn from thsoe better then you and needlessly to say there are many to learn from in thsi division

Re: Yay for Archie! (Archimedes Thread)

We are really in one of the craziset divisions its going to be great 45 33 60 71 571 111 there will be some close matches.

Re: Yay for Archie! (Archimedes Thread)

I feel slightly obliged to mention that 122 won the Palmetto regional (along with the great help of 11 and 281, though these are not in Archimides). We're also one of those 4 woodie flower finalists (anyone know the procedure for selecting the winner? this is the only award that makes me a tad bit nervous ...)

Good luck to all -- it looks like some tough competition. And if experience proves true, then nats are a completely different competition than the regionals. A lot of teams could win just by hanging in the regionals; it looks like it'll be a tougher fight throughout qualifying at nats. Anyone planning on changing their strategy?

we have one, it is called the messiah mode, all we did was open the arms we used to grab the big ball so it looked like arms opening up to the skys, but our new autonomous will be awsome

Against the wishes of my team members i still need to fix our autonomous mode. They think it worked great at UTC. well theyre wrong lol, oh fun! is it time to go to georgia yet ?

I counted 15 regional winners, let me know if this sounds right:
33
45
56
237
269
311
330
386
571
716
945
1002
1024
1112
1369
I'm of course assuming all these teams will be represented at nationals.

This is going to be awesome!!!! There are so many teams that I have heard a lot of great stuff about and I have great respect for but never met or played with since we are on the West Coast. There are definately going to be some awesome matches played! I know our whole team was so excited to be in this division!!!! Good luck to everyone at Nats and I'll see everyone there in about a week (I can't wait)! :)
