2004 IRI Music Thread
It'll be here sooner than we think, so let's start the planning now. I've looked back at last year's IRI Music Thread and have many of those songs already. Really I'm just looking for anything new or interesting that you wanna hear! (As long as it's appropriate)
Let the requests begin! :] |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
THE COMPLETE WILLIAM HUNG COLLECTION!!!

Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I don't think it's original, but make sure to play 867-5309. It's the song that reminds me of FIRST for some reason, and the DJs at the events I went to never had it!
Also, please play The Final Countdown in the finals. Another that I requested at all 3 regionals and nobody had. Oh, and Brim Full of Asha by Cornershop and Shook Me All Night Long....good ones! |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
You go tto find the cheese-head parody of the song "I'm a loser baby, so why don't ya kill me?". Play that for the WI teams (especially for team 93).
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Some R&B at least? :)
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Hey Mama - Black Eyed Peas
(I'll probably make a lot of posts like this in this thread, forgive me, but I'll keep adding songs as I think of them.) |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Any/All George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic
Strongbad - The Sytem is Down (PM me if you want the version off the CD, 1:46), Trogdor (1:39), and The Cheat is Not Dead (3:02) ALL Presidents of the United States of America Catch 22 Interpol The Avalanches The Sounds Crystal Method That's all I care to come up with right now. edit: AND THE DARKNESSSS!!!! |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I dont mind just as long as theres not much country and a couple of songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Quote:
And don't worry, I own the Homestar Runner CD :) I think we could fit in a Trogdor or an Everybody to the Limit in somewhere. Also, posting both the artist and the title of the song would be quite helpful. Sometime... when I get a sufficient amount of songs compiled, I'll create a playlist and post it on here. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Quote:
Well I'd suggest any good, upbeat, DDR songs, especially if you have the extended versions. Here are some other songs I think would be good for IRI: Beastie Boys - Sabotage Guns n Roses - Welcome to the Jungle Tenacious D - Tribute Led Zeppelin - Black Dog Devo - Whip It Kenna - Freetime Maroon 5 - This Love The Clash- I Fought the Law The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger David Bowie - Let's Dance The Doors - Break on Through The Fixx - One Thing Leads to Another Queen - Another one bites the dust (during elimination matches haha) that's all I can think of for now. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Quote:
Beyonce Knowles Alicia Keys Usher Jay-z Kanye West ...more coming when I think about them. :D Ohh yeah! Don't forget about the Cha-Cha slide and all that. It'll be fun dancing around. Hehehe. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I remember a couple years ago...I think at the 2002 IRI, I was taken aback when I heard some bhangra coming out of the speakers. Let's do that again! (hehe, it was a little amusing/strangely heartwarming to watch non-Indians dance to it.)
Also, Coldplay never hurts...I've always wanted to have Radiohead/Optimistic or Radiohead/The National Anthem played during a round. And Lord of the Rings stuff would be crazy cool, especially around the finals where you can make the music really intense and hardcore! Finally, there is always Eye of the Tiger. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Jay Z (prod Dj Danger Mouse) - Encore
Incase you don't know, this is from the Grey Album, which is Jay-Z's Black Album mixed with samples from the Beatle's White Album. Made infamous through Wildstang's teaser this year, this is one of the songs I kept listening to right before 461 hit the field for finals. EDIT: Baj is correct, Eye of the Tiger, and the Rocky theme are neccasary. Oh, and can't forget Kool and the Gang - Jungle Boogie. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Time to Start- Blue Man Group
Rock Star- NERD Channel Surfin- Feature Cast Clocks- Coldplay |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Oh, and Vengaboys is a great pick! In particular, "We Like To Party","Boom Boom Boom" and "Up and Down"
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I hear us rednecks in Indiana don't care for too much Technomusic and they are tempted to bring their trusty shootin' rifles if we do hear the Techno :p
Seriously guys, lets try to balance the music...nobody wants an all Techno weekend. My suggestions:

Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread

Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
No offense to anyone, but Coldplay doesn't really sound like something that people could (for lack of a better word) energize themselves too. Their songs are more like lullabies, but that too is another story.
Here's my list of People/Bands we should play Genesis ACDC The Eagles Bruce Springstein Village People (Uber Techno versions ;)) Meatloaf Jimmy Buffet |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
If it wasn't originally available on 8-track then we ain't playin it.

I am a proud dad - my kids STILL don't know who Brittney Spears or Backstreet Boys are. And, just today, my 2-year-old was humming "We Will Rock You" by Queen. As for what to play at IRI, just keep things mixed up (hard rock, dance, old stuff, techno, r&b, whatever) and keep 'em clean. Andy B. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Guys,
Mix it up all you want, but come finals ... we need to keep it loud and jammin'! The elimination rounds need to have songs that make you want to bang your head into a wall! Oh, and of course, during the eliminations we will need to be dancing on the field during "robot cool off time." -Paul |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Quote:
Hmmm... I have images of Paul dancing around and putting his head through the wall of the gymnasium. We're gonna have to watch how much coffee and donuts he puts into his system. Maybe my worries are for nothing. Paul's idea of "bang your head" music is probably something upbeat by Sinatra, like "Lady is a Tramp". ... Crazy Italian. :) Andy B. |

Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I know you all at least saw the FIRST Regional Music Playlist thread way back in january. And if you read it you also saw that I was going to make a CD of that music. So that's what I'm working on, if you don't like it, complain to your peers, but I figure this will make Ryan's job just a little easier (all I need to know now is if he wants a data CD of the music or an MP3 CD...lemme know!)
Here's the post with the excel sheet of all the music suggested. Ryan, if you get a chance, double check it and tell me if there are doubles! [edit]I'm so tired I completely forgot the link! HERE is the post![/edit] See you at IRI! |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread

Hey I think you need to play some smash mouth All-star. It's one awesome song if you ask me. And ofcorse the song "Love shack"( I think only Andy B. or somebody from 45 would get that). But I am sure you will play some cool songs  |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
So, what's the best way to make a playlist? and I don't mean one on like Winamp or something that'll be used to play off of, I just mean a text one so I can show you guys which songs I have...?
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
I would just use winamp and generate an HTML playlist then just copy and past that into a word document or notepad.
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Some suggestions:
-Black eye peas- hey mama -AFI- girls not grey -NERD- rockstar -Linkin Park- In the end, Faint (ha, i just saw i poll that said 50% love LP and 50% hate their guts. I thought that was pretty funny. :D ) -ACDC- Back in Black Red hot chillipeppers- Can't stop |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread

NOFX!! |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Artists are good, but Artists and song titles are better - I'm much more likely to get songs by a specific artist if I know which songs people want from them. Just a thought. :]
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Just a few suggestions:
staind - yesterday, price to play new found glory - all downhill from here alien ant farm - goodbye, s.s. recognize eve 6 - think twice hoobastank - same direction, out of control incubus - circles, under my umbrella linkin park - faint puddle of mudd - spin you around, already gone trust company - take it all godsmack - changes, re-align Yeah I basically went down my windows media player list and picked out some of the more widely-known bands and songs. This should make them a little easier to find. :D |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
anything by david bowie (esp. from the labyrinth soundtrack :P) and i'd like to hear Special K's great hit shiny dirt again!! Haha, ask robohottie71 about that :D
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers- Runnin' Down A Dream(The music for our season video). It's a great song, good lyrics, and can sum up FIRST a bit. Any of the songs I've posted about, you can just ask me for and I'll give them to you if you don't want to search them out to download them. :)
|
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
other songs i'd enjoy hearing:
Reptilia- The Strokes Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger- Daft Punk One More Time- Daft Punk I Believe in a Thing Called Love- The Darkness (yeah, i know... but my team has some fun memories of bus rides and belting this one out.) Breathe on Me- Britney Spears (I know what you are all thinking, but this song is really a pretty good one, the beat is so awesome.) maybe i'll think of more later. |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Perhaps this is my inspriation to finally make Shiny Dirt v 6.0 (Robomix)! If not...good old Shiny Dirt v 1.0 can be brought with and played for all to marvel at :ahh: Maybe if someone can host it for me, I'll release it for the masses and link it here (my MSOE webspace probably can't handle the number of downloads that this awesome song will receive!)
Other songs on my list: -Megadeth - Crush'em (ok, so the lyrics aren't exactly about gracious professionalism, but its still a good competition song!) -Alice Deejay - The Lonely One (Great rave song) -Eye of the Tiger -The FIRST regulars (Cotten Eyed Joe, We Like to Party, The Launch, Kernkraft 400, Better Off Alone) I'm sure there is more...but this list is huge already! Its gonna be an awesome time!!! |

Toby Keith - Whiskey Girl John Mayer - Bigger than my Body Janet Jackson - All Nite (Don't Stop) Chritina Milian - Dip It Low Nina Sky - Move Ya Body |
Re: 2004 IRI Music Thread
Some oldies but goodies:
Stir it up - Bob Marley Good Vibrations - Beach Boys It's Now or Never - Elvis 25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood - (forget the artist, it's a campy disco song) Funkytown - (again, forget the artist) Some up-tempo Sinatra tunes would mix in well, also, with all of this new stuff. Maybe "Lady is a Tramp" or "Under my skin" Speaking on Sinatra... "These Boots are Made for Walkin" - Nancy Sinatra Shifting genres, we need some old-school hip hop in here also. How about: Momma Said Knock You Out - LL Cool J It Takes Two - Rob Base Andy B. |

The Beatles - Sgt. Can't break the chain. :)) Other than those four, I can't think of much else to add. Nice job with the playlist. |

Others: "Falling for the first time" - Barenaked Ladies "Free to Go" - Folk Implosion "Boom Boom Boom" - Rare Blend "Lollipop (Candiman)" - Aqua "Caraluna" - Bacilos "Greatest Day" - Bowling for Soup "Don't Give Up on Me" - Fastball "Calc Lecture Girl" - I Voted for Kodos "I Want You to Want Me" - Letters to Cleo "Mirror Mirror" - M2M ... I think that's it, for now. If you need "Calc Lecture Girl", let me know - I Voted for Kodos isn't that popular yet, and most people don't have their music ... yet. :) |
