Queuing Feedback
May I start by saying great job to all teams, my team wasn't there but I had a great time working with all of you, and talking with many of you.
I may be opening a door I shouldn't but... As one of the head queuers at nationals I am looking for a little feedback from the teams. I am interested because I am already planning to volunteer next year in the same role (see the effect you all had on me :) ). I will try to compile the useful feedback I receive and get together with FIRST to hopefully make things better for next year. Please let me know of concerns/problems you had such as the timing of the announcements for matches, the line at the fields, the path in/out of the arena... Positive feedback, if any, would also be appreciated. For those of you wondering, I was the guy at the entrance to the arena checking in teams on the Archimedes and Curie fields. Thanks in advance for your constructive feedback. |

I can't give any negative feedback, so whatever you guys did to make it run so smooth, do it again next year! Oh, one thing I can think of, there were only a couple times where it seemed like teams were backed up for matches at the field, like they were called too early. So that may have been a little inconsistent, but for the most part, everything was timed quite well... Thanks! |
Re: Queuing Feedback
I to, was very impressed with queung this year.
I didn't notice any time that my team was called excessivly early or late for a match. I think the timing was spot on. I think a good deal of the success had to do with keeping the robot transport line and the spectator line to the dome seprate. I know a lot of people wished for a faster way to walk to the stands, but it really was nice not having to manuver those bots around a lot of people. I really hope it stays this way for next year. My only other suggestion, and you may not be the person to really handle this, is with the pit annoucments. While the annocements were much more audible and clear then at any regional I've been to, with just shy of 300 teams being called through out the day it was a little difficult to hear your number called the first time every time. I would be interested in each division having it's own speakers and PA loop, so that at least your divisinal queuing would be louder then the other 3. Or perhaps each time a division was called, intead of saying 'Newton match #56...' a specific sound that always preceded Newton being called could be played, as a sort of 'heads up'. A pure tone or something that people could easily associate with thier division. That way, when you hear your divisions tone/sound, you pay attention. All together, there really isn't a whole lot that could be improved. Any problems I did see were likely the result of teams responding late or early. Congrats guys, really. -Andy A. |
