Now that the season is over...ahh memories...

So Far

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

We usually try to hit up as many as possible.. so far we're planning on:

Beantown Blitz
Canada Wonderland
Mayhem at the Merrimack
Battlecry@WPI 5
RiverRage
Bash at the Beach

Any others within a couple hours drive that come up we'll probably get a group going to attend. We usually do Rally in the Valley and the Maryland State Fair, but we haven't heard word if those are happening yet. I'm sure if they do, we'll be there.

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

Hey everyone, just to let you know team 555 outta Northern NJ is thinking of making a competition in september or october, in which we create our own game and teams can use past KOP to build a robot to compete. This is a great way to train freshman and other newbies about the ways of first before the actual compettiton. There is a competition like this run out in Michigan called OCCRA and they said that 469 has competed in it in the past two years and last year they were national champs and this year they were national finalist. IF anyone is interested please check out the "Exciting New Competition" thread in the general forum, and respond ASAP, this wont happen if we dont get enough teams so please consider it.

According to Mike Wade, the Maryland State Fair is not inviting the robots back this year since they figure the Fair can make more money by renting the space to someone else. :(
We are disappointed since this was always a great place for us to recruit sponsorship and get the local publicity, although it was grueling 3 days of competition and plus another few days juggling school and PR at the Fair.

We'll be going to PARC on May 8th... and perhaps another one in the Fall if we have a chance (read: $).

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

341 loves offseason events and will be attending;

PARC
New Brunswick Eruption
Duel on the Delaware
and of course, our home event, Ramp Riot...

due to the Maryland State Fair being cancelled we're also hoping to attend 303's event and 225's event, although I haven't heard any definite word from our coach..

Team 1114 will be attending the inaugural Canada's Wonderland event. Two days at an awesome theme park, plus a FIRST competition? How could you go wrong.

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

As usual.....
PARC
Duel on the Delaware
Ramp Riot

New this year, 1391's (Westtown Robotics) Delaware Valley Robotics Comp on May 1st. That is if we can actually register, been having trouble doing so.

On my wish list is IRI. Its a long haul but a few others and myself would love to go, I just hope we can convince the team. Since we are a small team we were hoping to join some other PA team(s) to get a bus. Any one think thats a possibility ;) ?

As far as I know team 316 the LuNaTeCs will be attending two offseason competitions. P.A.R.C(222-Tigertrons) and of course the best offseason competition the Duel on the Delaware co-hosted with 365 MOE.
I believe Ramp Riot may be in the question. Whether we still have a team or not.

We will of course be attending the bash at the beach with 236 (considering we help host it) but 521 is also looking to get in on 1 more comp possibly River Rage or Battle Cry, but neither of those have been finalized.

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

re: md competition

We (449) were thinking that if there is no state fair in MD we should host a replacement competition. We'll let you know if and when we have more information.

Also, I'm trying to find out all the competitions that we could go to and it is hard to find info on a lot of them. Here is what i have found for competitions from VA noth to new england:

Beantown Blitz -Boston, May 22
Bash at the Beach -?? Where is this?
Mayhem at the Marrimack -Tydingsboro MA June 12
Battlecry@WPI 5 -Worcester, MA June 19
RiverRage -Manchester, NH Sept, 11
FallFury/Elm City? -October, Keene NH
Dual on the Delaware -NJ-oct 23, Salem Comm College, Carney's PT, NJ
PARC -May 8, Erie, PA-Tunkhannock
Ramp Riot V -Wissahickon Nov 7 or 13 Ambler, PA
Summer Frenzy -York, PA, Aug 14, 24 teams, $150
11?/1302 -Mt. Olive, NJ (NW NJ)
Rally in the Valley -Lebanon NH
SBPLI-LI ? -Oakdale NY

Can anyone fill in more info?
We are looking specifically for northern VA, MD, southern PA, DE, or southern NJ. I thought i heard something about one in delaware. That would be nice...

Thanks!

Duel is actually just across the river from Delaware. Regarding PARC, it is not at all associated with Erie, PA - other side of the state to be exact [In Tunkhannock]!

I don't think team 5 itself is going to any next year, seeing as how this is probably our last year...but I'm going to try to goto Kettering and IRI on my own if the team is no more.

I believe that one of the rookie teams from Delaware is going to have an offseason event. As far as the DE/southern NJ competition that would be the Duel on the Delaware. It is held at our home base SCC, Salem Community College. We co-host the event with team 365 MOE. Info on the Duel will be released shortly on MOE's website. www.moe365.org

Re: Which Offseason Competitions will your teams be attending?

I wouldn't mind driving up to Bash @ the Beach even if Miss Daisy doesn't go officially. It sounds like a great competition. Ramp Riot is definitely a can't miss event on the East Coast. Many top teams should be in attendance. I also believe that there is a canned food drive and after raffling off an I-POD, who knows what the Daisies will come up with this year? Please come by (even if you'r team doesn't come) and help make 2004 Ramp Riot the best Ramp Riot ever.

November 13th will be the best November 13th ever, don't miss it. :)

I don't know. Last year we went to the Maryland State Fair but that is no more. And we also went to the Duel on the Deleware. that maybe a possibility. Besides we are trying to save some money so we can go to 3 regionals and possible Atlanta, again. If and only if we win an award, or win a reginal or be on the winning alliance. We shall see...

Battlecry @ WPI 5
is the only one that I know of that we are going to. We've never been too big on offseason competitions. Hopefully that can be changed.

Let's see, we attended 6 mini comps last year, and i think we are planning on 7 this year, starting with BTB, Battle Cry, IRI, York, and then the typical east coast circuit, Duel, BE, and RR.

Peace,

The N.E.W. Apple Corps will be attending IRI, of course. We missed last year and REALLY MISSED being there.

How do all the rest of you afford (time and money) to attend so many off-season events? I see some of you are attending up to a half dozen! I'd like to see our team extend it's season like that but can't imagine the cost associated.

Sean

I am not sure what my alma mater has planed this year. However, during my driver days and we traveled the "MidAtlantic" circuit like some others - all costs were placed upon those traveling. Usually, it was just the floor team, and 3-4 other students. Along with parents, mentors, and engineers. We would all load up tools, and the robot into our own vehicles, and make the long trips ourselves. Most were day trips, however comps. such as MD Fair were 3 day events and were much costlier.

We host Fall Fury at our school in Keene NH, so obviously we will be there. Our event will be held in October, with a registration fee of $100.00 to participate. We will have more info at Beantown Blitz, and we will post it on Chief Delphi.

Unfortuanatly, for the fifth year in a row, Sparky will not be going to an off-season competition. Why not host one, you say? Easy, we do not have enough resoures to start one, maintain it, and such.
