The Gila Monsters had an incredibly tough robot. They fell from a ten foot pole several times, and i dont think they missed a single match. The mechanism they used to go back and forth on the pole was very creative, also.

Eric

There partner was us, we all hung are robots a little different than most....we all curled up instead of pulling up. When we won the Great lakes we were named the "clone alliance". It had some advantages and also some disadvantages. I liked 66 and 279 design a little better than ours because they both added one more reduction to give them a slower curl speed.

Advantage - Could use same arm joint for ball picking and to curl

Disadvantage - A whole lot of torque on one pivot. :ahh:

Wow... I can't believe I forgot. I loved team rush's robot. They hung really easily and had a nice arm with turet...Plus they were a really nice team. Another team member and I must of spent ten minutes talking with their human player. She was extremely bright and fun to talk to.

233 was the best hanger I saw. They could hang in less than ten seconds, and got pretty high up there. 254, 64 (that was so cool when you guys fell of the bar- not that i was hoping you would or anything), 945, and 237 were also really good.

Forgot to mention team 311, I saw them at the FL regional.

In the PNW regional, 1031 was definately the best and most reliable hanger, too bad they didn't do so hot at nationals. (but I do hear that they are now getting sponsorship from George Lucas!)

Let me guess. The force was broken at Atlanta. I tried to convince my team to use the force but no one would listen.

I really liked team 48's arm because my friends told me it was cool. That thing must have also been the most rigid hanging arm of the year.

I think 190 hung very well cuase they did it in auton. 330 was great cuase they could move along the bar. And 254/60 was also very fast in hanging.

We put a clutch on the motor shaft to our winch so it freewheeled untill we winched. To keep the cable under control we put a tape measure on so it would wind up the cable on the spool whenever there was slack.

The Gila Monsters impressed me, as did 716 (darn their tie died shirts). I'm still not so sure about the side-of-bar hanging robots, I think that was pushing the rules but thats just me.

Definately 190, they come up with a great design every year. This year was no different. I don't generally like robots that hang immediately, but they actually did something while up there. They could cap, de-cap, and defend the bar. Thats a kool robot by me. Great job 190.

I personally couldn't believe my eyes when I saw team 71's robot lift off the ground at Western Michigan.

279 and 322, awesome. Great allies.

67, very HOT.

That's about it from what I saw.

Um hello, doesnt anyone remember 716. The only team that beat 71 in the finals in Archimedies. They were deffinitly the best hanger out there in my mind. They hung everytime they actually wanted to, and were undefeted in Quailification. (They also helped out with the highest score in the nation for this years game.. 230.)

Re: Who was the best hanger?

I want to emphasize the amazing abilities of 64 on the bar, they blocked it like that was their bar ( Get outta my house!) and they had a "pretty" robot too.

I also liked 1405, they would get on about 15 secs into human control and ram people off. Along those lines, I also think that 20 was a great hanger. They would clip on, block like no other, and could uncap while hanging. I loved that robot.

My personal favorite was 64 which is why I picked them in fantasy first. I also really liked 190, my first pick in FF. (someone really wanted 190 so I traded it for 175). I though both of their hanging mechanisms were amazing.

Thanks for all of the comments. We have fallen from the bar three times, once in Az (cord snapped) and twice at nationals. Once our hook unbent the very second before we latched our drive mechanism onto the bar(that was the worst one) and the second our winch gears came loose. All three times we were right back up on the bar for our next match!

As for my favorite hangers, 1405 - very fast and reliable, the only ones in galileo who beat us up onto the bar! Not to mention our alliance partners for the finals. Also 330 - a fellow shimmy, these guys never fail to impress me.
