Colorado is half way to being only the third team in NHL history to fall behind 3-0 in a series and come back to win it. Last time it was done, 1975, the Islanders. The momentum is most definately on Colorado's side now. And sakic is playing like a god. Not to mention aebicher, and the fact that blake should be back for tuesdays game 6. Aebicher is the hottest goalie right now, and hes been domnant at home during the play-offs. The only goal hes allowed at home during the series wasnt his fault(damphouse flipped one off his back). Aside from the two games early in this series he has been a dominant goaltender. Sakic is on fire, and is now tied for the lead in play-off goals(7), and points(11). Forsberg also has 11 points. Sakic also has the most career game winning play-off goals amognst active players with 6. If colorado pulls this off, which they will, he will become the instant Conn-Smythe favorite. His 3 goals in the last two games, scoring 2 game winners, and the other sending game 5 into OT, will be the most influential of these play-offs. Now that its a 3-2 series they statistically have as much of a chance to pull this off as detroit does, but the difference is that they have the momentum. Plus the trends support them. The last 10 times a team has won game 1 by 3 or more goals, they have gone on to lose the series, and the last 2 times NJ won the stanley cup(95 and 00) colorado won the next year(96 and 01). Plus, a 3-1 series isnt over(just look at the Habs in the first round), much less a 3-2. And for those who say they cant win 4 straight games, why not? SJ won five straight through game 3, tampa bay has won 6 straight. So why not colorado with 4? Id put my money on Colorado in 7(obviously... :p )

Re: Col-SJ
It took Colorado long enough to wake up, but I never lost faith in them. I know they can come back from 3-0 down in the series and take care of them. Its nice to see that the offensive presence is showing for Colorado with people like Sakic, Foresberg, Tanguay, Hejduk, Selanne (finally), Konowalchuck, and the suprising prescense of rookie sensation and future big man, Marek Svatos. Never count Colorado out...the sharks are a young team with a few old men that ran out of gas in the 3rd period of Game 5. Avs will take the series in 7 :D

Re: Col-SJ
Dont forget JM Liles! The rookie hasnt got a whole lot of points for the team, but hes done the nitty gritty offensive work. Hes gotten a decent amount of shots off, most of them producing rebounds, kept the puck in the offensive zone, and stuff like that. Plus hes furfilled his role as a defensmen as well. When Rob Blake went out with injury, the biggest increase in ice time was Liles(other than Kirk Sauer who was activated because of it).

Re: Col-SJ
Well, now the avs have infinatly higher chance at winning their series than the wings do. Calgary is robbing Colorado of all its chances to beat its rivals in the play-offs. :p

Re: Col-SJ
So, The Avs spent the entire 3rd period on the Shark's side of the ice, and couldn't do anything, even after the absolutely horrendous officiating (DJ, I don't want to hear a word out of you, that officiating was downright terrible, even the announcers said that this was the worst officiated game they'd seen all year :p) And with a 6 on 4 advantage for a bit less than two minutes.
So, anyone have anything to say about the Sharks now? :D Cory |
Re: Col-SJ
Yeah the avs played like crap...its as simple as that.
Calgary will eliminate San Jose due to the fact that that SJ pretty much gave Calgary the defensive reason they are still alive (Miika Kiprusoff) for basically nothing....do you honestly think Calgary would have made it this far with Roman Turek or Jamie McClennan between the pipes?? ;) |

Re: Col-SJ
Ive gotta go with SJ winning the Stanley Cup now. My bet is on SJ in 6, then SJ over TB in 7. Col will win next year, if there is a next year...(hopes there will be)
